Cleansing speculation thread

So as more people attain multiple green steel items the need for cleansing them grows greater.

We dont know if cleansing takes up 1 lvl of modifier slot. Which would then make many of the currently made items obsolete. This thread will hopefully combine some ideas on how to figure out cleansing into one place.

I have heard a few speculations:

1) We know green steel items are attunable. Maybe after you attune it you can cleanse it by combining it with some of the essences that have no known use received from the trap the soul spell (probably 30HD version)?

2) I have heard some believe it has to do with the collectibles in the raid (the ones in the bags on the ground...that you need 100 of;/. Someone mentioned to me one of the collectible quest NPCs dialogue sounded like it could have hinted at cleansing.

3) some have guessed one will be able to attain something after 20 raid completions...seeing as how the raid counter isnt currently working for the shroud this may take awhile...and I kind of doubt this is correct. But who knows...

Thoughts? Suggestions? Im really just drawing at straws here. Anyone else want to venture a guess?

I sure hope it has nothing to do with the Shroud collectables as they're completely bugged!

Got 12 on my main character (in the bank, bound) but the counter in the raid indicates just 3... so it works like 25% of the time At this rate it's gonna take 2 years to get the 100... but the reason I doubt it might be this is it seems to work like the slayers as it gives XP in the raid.

My guess: 20th completion would gives you a random choice between items that you can't craft, ie: rapier, greataxe, armor, shield, etc. (much more what I hope than a guess but hey..lol)

But the attune item thing is most probly gonna be the way it'll work

That'd be too mean. Think about it, you'll have to something 20 times (at a rythm of one every ~3 days) to get what you want. That is mean... even more if it's not guanranteed you'll get the item you want.

For balance reasons, I'd assume we won't be able to cleanse the tainted items, at least till the level cap increases.

The Shroud non-weapon items are so much more powerful than virtually any other alternatives that they are like having 2 more item slots.

I was thinking that cleansing would probably take up a modifier slot because I agree a bunch of cleansed items with final altar modifications would be overpowered. If you were limited to not being able to get the good upgrades (final altar) because cleansing took up 1 of your 3 upgrade options I dont think they would be overpowered.

Yeah, me too. I'm guessing those useless horns have something to do with it... don't they mention the Altar of Subjugation in their description?

Thats right. More speculations about the horn. While most seem to think its just a currently bugged ingredient there is a definite possibility it relates to cleansing.

Why can u equip 2 weapons and not 2 items? The description says something to do with blood lust. when you equip. 2 items you start taking damage. Why? Because the items are feeding on you! The answer to cleansing, i believe lies in how to satisfy their blood lust. how? i have my theories but not alot of compnents.Ill have to wait until i get more crafting materials before i can try some of them out. i think you are also right philo. i think that the end items would end up looking something like the madstone boots. So i am using them for my template. ie. using crafting to craft madstone boots with a few tweeks maybe (-:

I think there will be a ritual of cleansing, that is currently not in play.

no its not mean....you need 12 items...to craft part 3....nothing wrong with 20 completions
