Splash of Bard,Cleric or Pali

I like having the ability to self heal between & during fights depending on type of healer. The question is what would be a better splash?

Bard 3 levels: heroism,rage,blur - wand usage

cleric 3 levels: divine favor,element resists,shield,nightshield - wand usage

Pali ? not sure: aura,saves - wand usage?

Please help me decide with some feedback

3 levels of Pally give you solid immunities and a good boost to saves. That's the way I would go, in general.

The other two lower your to-hit, which can be frustrating. And in the higher levels, heroism is supplanted by GH, so you're not going to be able to use those levels for much.

Cleric levels give you potential DVs, which should get you some appreciation from the casters in the party.

Bards do not get level 2 spells until 4th level. Other than that you'd be losing BAB.

cleric 3 levels: divine favor,element resists,shield,nightshield - wand usage

Clerics do not get the spell: Shield, they do get Nightshield but with only 3 levels the duration will be about the same as a clicky (which are very easy to find). You resists will be worthless since they will only resist the 1st 10 points of damage. Divine Favor will make up for the BAB you lose if you use it ALL the time.

Pali ? not sure: aura,saves - wand usage?

This is the best way to go IMO: you don't lose any BAB, you gain +1 to AC and Saves as well as wand usage at level 1, at level 2 you gain Divine Grace (which adds you CHA bonus to your saves, assuming it's a positive number), and at level 3 you get immunity to fear and disease as well as the ability to use a couple of AP's to get yourself another +1 to AC and Saves

You could toss Ranger into the mix as well depending on your focus. They can use many of the same wands a Paly could, and they get some nice fighting feats built in as well. Depends on what you are really trying to get out of the splash.

I took a level of cleric on my fighter for various reasons, not least of them was the ability to use MSI as a spell to get an ally when running solo. Made a lot of low level quests a LOT easier to handle when the mobs had another target to focus on, albeit sometimes briefly. Also gave me flanking bonus which meant I was hardly ever missing at those levels.

I did a splash of three levels of cleric once. I ended up deleting him at 13th level because the healing was great at lower levels, but at higher levels it was just faster to buy cure serious wands. Also, the points that went into WIS didn't go into STR so he was a little shy of his true potential with STR.

I could have accomplished arguably better results by just taking some paladin levels and I would have got a little more AC/Saves possibly since I had a reasonable charisma on that build.
