Rainbow in the Dark Help!

I was hoping some of you guys and gals would be able to help me.

I was looking to disable the falling floor in Rainbow in the Dark. I got the control pannel on the left side to disable the lightening, the control pannel on the right side to disable the spikes. I sneaked slowly fowards inching my way up searching and looking both sides to disable the one for the falling floor to get the optional floor drop... needless to say I didn't find it and the floor dropped out.

Second try, rolled a 1 failed to disable the ligtening trap, put on my disable device gloves and learned my lessons of over estimating my skills on hard. (Previous run was elite so I was feeling prideful) got the spike trap, ran though got fried. Got a raise and ran over to the chest and took my raise. To my credit I didn't just grab the loot and say Yay! I searched for the control pannel from this side. Couldn't find it. The second rogue came up looking for the control pannel, she couldn't find it either. She moved to close, floor dropped out, I picked the lock got my chest and still have no clue where the box is.

If anyone could help me out with where it is at... or if the DC of finding that box is higher then the rest I would be greatful.

What are you talking about?

THe Drop out floor is tied to the puzzle as far as I know. No onehas found a correlation to how to solve the puzzle. THe Trap boxes appear in Random Locations. I've seen anywhere from 2 to 4 boxes for the the various traps around the area.

Whats your search skill? THat would be a good place to start.

Oh this isn't for the clock puzzle trap. This is the trap which the cube tied to it. It has the dart trap, the eleccity trap, and the floor drop trap. It is the one off of the gnoll room down the long hallway with one chest at the end.

Search should be high enough as I found the other two boxes. My search skill buffed is in the mid to high 40s.

Maxed search skill, +13 search googles, 20(something) int.

When you go just past the blade/dart trap, search on the right side of the room and the box should be right there. Not sure what the dc is on the box, since I've only done the quest on my 2 clerics and sorceress so far.

Maybe these traps are more random thanI thought....

Inthe Long hallway to the Locked Chest I've only found 3 Boxes... 2 At the beginning, one halfway down onthe right. Do those 3, Unlock the chest, Loot for all.... Every time so far.. (ABut 6 times or so)

THe Cube falling down from the ceiling, I've only seen by the part where you have to jump across the Cylendrical steps with al the spikes below. THe Box is on a Step inthe middle..... You can hit the box from Solid ground, and disable it from an adacent pillar.

My Rogues Search Skil sits over 50 though.
19 Ranks +15 Item, +3 Enhancments, +6 INT, +4 Greater Heroism, +2 Head of GOod Fortune +2 Drow = 51 I canbost for 5 more, but I dont thinkI had to for any of those boxes.

One on each side before the blade trap. 1 on right side just after the blade trap.

As a side note maybe I should also start grabbing the light when I am tackling these boxes. Just in case the boxes are appearing and well my own eyesight isn't finding it.

If you're finding them, you should be hearing that the box was found. If you're not getting the auditory effect, then you haven't found it. Not sure the light is going to help.

Oh I was thinking more so helping me the player. In case it has popped up and I simply didn't see it because it was to dark, maybe clutching at staws there.

When I've done this on my rogue, it seems like i automatically fail while searching for boxes beyond the sphere of light from the radiant arc. On the positive side, a search failed in this manner can be searched again with more light, from the same position, and be found. I've experienced this in the floor drop area (with the torchholder's light blocked the pillar), by the trapped shrine, and in the hallway with three boxes and the flat wooden chest (w/acid pit).

Boxes show up in the dark when searched and you will be able to see them since they are visible in the dark just like the mobs are. When you do search out the 3rd box inch close to it. Sometimes if you advance for enough to stand squarely in front of it you will trigger floor drop anyways. After all 3 traps are disabled your spot will still go off but there are no more traps. Think that may be a bug. Every time I've ran rainbow all 3 of these traps have been in the same location. After you get the first two go to the right of the hallway. Maybe you weren't close enough to get the search.
