Default NOT A TRADE: W/P Rapiers and what they ...

    ... are actually worth.

As I've said before, a wounding of puncturing rapier is the rarest of the rare. Find me one other item (okay maybe the Fire Greaves) that drop with such low frequency. A +1 w/p rapier is ML 10. ML 10 stuff has been dropping since the VON raid went in if I remember right. If not then it has definitely been dropping since the first level cap increase. My point is that ML 10 weapons have been dropping for a long time. How many people actually have PULLED a w/p rapier? I only know of three people that have pulled one. I only know of 4 people that have one (and yes I know that Davey has 90000 of them).

Now let's compare that to something like ethereal bracers. Everyone knows where they drop and they are a named item that ALWAYS has a chance to drop in that chest. EBs are all over Argo. So why in the world would you send a PM asking to trade a set of EBs for a w/p rapier +1,000,000 PP. Another example, a full set of tomes will get you a couple of great weapons. But many people have 5 and 6 complete sets of tomes because of the "bug" in the Abbott pre-raid. That's great, I'm glad that you were able to get something that you wanted because personally I think the devs set the drop rate just a bit to low on the tome pieces. Just my opinion. But if you can get 5 or 6 sets of tome pages and you don't have ANY w/p rapiers even though those chests were dropping ML 10 weapons, doesn't that tell you something? Let's say you were extremely lucky and got a tome each chest you looted and you have 2 complete sets in 16 runs. You're still 0 for 16 for w/p rapiers. Let's say it took you 60 runs to get your two full sets. Now you're 0 for 60 for w/p rapiers. Do you catch my drift that a w/p rapier is MUCH more rare than any number of full sets of tomes you could offer up?

Now this isn't just a rant on the value of w/p rapiers, it's more a rant on the greed that I see both on Argo and the overall MMO community. Since we don't deal with each other face to face, 99% of the people feel it's okay to try to rip people off or at least to heavily stack the deal in their favor (and I've been guilty of that myself in at least one case).

I like trading a lot. On Mabar, I think more people knew me for trading that for anything else. Trading was/is my chance to meet new people and extend my experience on our little world. So all I ask for you citizens of Argo is this - If you are going to trade with anyone, or at the very least, trade with me, treat the other party with a little respect and think about the TRUE value of the item you want to trade. Please remember that a deal is only a good deal if both people walk away happy. If even one side begrudgingly goes through with the trade, you probably won't be dealing with that person again and I think that's a shame because why would you want to burn any bridges.

Sorry just a bit of rambling from Yaga. It's the Alzhiemer's.

    Default good job

early in my trading days i was ripped off

hopefully, new traders will read this & not get ripped off

however, a wounding/puncturing rapier is worth nothing IMO if it sits in the bank, i.e., i think you should either use it or trade it to someone who can have some fun with it

I actually think those MIGHT be comparable based upon the drop rate that myself and other in my guild have seen.

But the point of the post isn't about w/p rapier, I'm just using that item as an example of an item, I could very well have been speaking about a Bloodstone, or a Bloodrage Symbiant, or a +2 Tome pre-Mod 6, etc.

Because of people looking at these rare items as gods gift to them, this is the basic reason why high end things dont get traded.
    1st
if your not using it why on earth keep it in your bank to collect dust. Thats just greed.
    2nd
its a weapon, there are many weapons that are as good if not better (especially with crafting coming out) so imo its not even close to the best item in game because everyone cant use it. (firestorm greaves everyone can use)
    3rd
Some people are not as lucky as others. so when the unlucky gets something ubber, they ask for everything and the kitchen sink for that item. Believe me im one of the unlucky. So its pretty simple if you think your getting ripped off dont trade and say no thanks have a nice day.

So until they come out with a value chart with everything on it we can keep gouging prices and screwing each other :P

    P.S.
yaga your a turd, even if your post wasnt all about W/P. Mine was

Amen and amen, brothers. My sentiments exactly. Of course, most of the server already knows how I feel about this if they harken back to a post a few months ago that had 3000+ hits in one week -- and to think it only cost me 2 Forum infraction points

    Default Items in bank

I have to disagree to a certain extent about storing items.

Just because you have an item that you don't/can't use doesn't mean that you should automatically put it on the AH, give it it to a guildie, or sell it to a broker.

I didn't start my STR based ranger until I had accumulated a nice collection of longswords. Now I know that no one wants longswords anyway but I always had it in the back of my mind to make a STR based elven ranger that used longswords. Once I looked at my banks and saw that I had a fairly nice collection I finally made him.

I do hate it when people just put an item away and never use them but if they have a future plan for them then I think it should be okay.

(I sold all 5 silver bows I had in my bank accounts on the AH for 2000 PP each and thought I got the better end of the deal than the people buying them!)

True Story - Yaga once slipped me a mikey in the Rusty Nail then proceeded to fleece me of all W/P rapiers. Never trust a man that asks another man to roleplay and then offers free Ghallanda Distilate.

Most people on Mabar knew Yaga because of his noob sauce antics, and the fact the he would always sneak hump others' characters for entire 4-8 hour gaming sessions

Thanks for the compliment there Jond but I'm pretty sure it wasn't ever longer than 2 to 3 hours of humping. I'm pretty sure that was my limit.

I've been trading on marketplace since launch too and saw all kind of deals/dealers.

Yaga is right that some ppl try way too much to rip off some ppl. But on the other hand, some people are just making offers that might seem kinda unfair because you simply never know how someone sees his own stuff. You still can't blame them for offering less than expected (in general among the community) to a guy that is gonna be happy to get this deal cuz he doesn't want to put some effort to get the max out of his trade.

I mean, I'm a big trader so yeah, if I pulled a famous W/P rapier and that I'm not gonna use it, it's going nowhere til I get many things I'm looking for cuz I know what it's worth for the community in general and because I'm patient enough to let it collect some dust in the bank til I find the right person to deal with. Mainly because I'm playing a LOT in a week, so getting a lot of nice items for it in return would benefit me greatly during my playtime, rather than dealing asap to get 1-2 items.

However, let's say a casual player, barely playing 4-5 hours a week and playing only casters pull this awesome weapon... he won't see this the same way as I will, no doubt. For him, getting only 1-2 items he's looking for since a long time will be great! Would be useless to wait and spend more time to trade it than what he's playing for during the week

So in the end, only one thing matters: a trade is a good trade when both sides are happy, period.

The other variables (playtime, toons played, general knowledge of the market, etc.) simply can't be applied to everyone.

It's all luck really, plain and simple... I've ransacked a few toons on these bloodstone chests, I'm probly near at least 100 chests and never pulled one and never even saw one pulled while I was there.

But I know someone who pulled 2 in 3 runs, heck a guildie even got one at the same time as the sorc in his party, in the same chest!

What's funny is, it seems it's always people who are farming these that can't get what they want, while ppl that don't really care that much about it keep pulling the rares lol
