You know, I'm a nice guy. I take alot of **** from alot of people and never say anything.
Well thats all over now.
Starting last night, some butthead was being sarcastic and rubbing some of my guildies the wrong way. I wasn't the leader so I wasn't letting it get to me. Then at the end of VoN2 I asked if everyone was ready for me to give "whats-her-name" her last item.
One person said yea. I said is everyone ready; could have heard a pin drop. So I ask again and half way through my sentence that butthead i mentioned hollars at me "YES WERE READY NOW DO IT".....
We killed the boss in seconds and as were running to get the chest i voiced over the mic "F'in yell at me a--hole" got my loot, jumped off the platform, got into town, right clicked my name, left party.
By the time I get to the inn, there already talking about him in guild chat.
The leader of the party (guild member) asked me if I wanted to do the next run with them. I asked if butthead was still there. They confirmed he was. I said I'd go if I could be party leader. They said no problem. They added me to party, a second and a half I was the leader, just long enough to boot the butthead. Then I gave leadership back and announced to everyone that everything was good to go now, which resounded with LOL's and laughter over the headset.

So this is the word. I'm not putting up with anymore buttheads. You act the ass, or are unpleasant in any way, you get the boot.
There will be "NO WARNINGS". So if your one of those folks that all of a sudden find themselves booted from a party, look at yourself and ask why.

The guy said "yes we're ready, now do it"...There was no cussing or anything overly wrong with that...was it the CAPS that offended you?...or maybe his tone of voice? You then responded with cussing at him...

You can very easily look at the map and see that everyone is in (not to mention if you ran the quest with them you should know already that all were in). Did you really need to ask?

Most people these days want to hurry through all 4 vons in a half hour or less.

I see nothing in your post that would justify kicking someone from a group.

Well the OP said he was yelled at. I actually got upset for like the 2nd time in over a year the other day. I was with my level 4 WF sorc in tangleroot gorge and the named wolf popped. Well the ranger in my party(shall remain nameless) just got knocked down by the wolf and I rushed in to save him. I hit the wolf with a scorching ray and then the wolf jumped me. The ranger got up, healed, and snuck away while I was fighting for my life. I lost the fight and had a few choice words for him then dropped group. I hope all he ever pulls is sacred of power 1 items for all eternity.

After he hollared at me (no.., he didnt just raise his vioce a little) the ass hollared at me. That was all the reason I or anyone should ever need to boot someone like that.

I am not very familiar with the game as most posters are on these boards.

I find that half of my random groups always have the one player that is going to go off and push the quest to be finished in six seconds or less. As a cleric, I have even been yelled at for not healing people FAST enough. Wish I knew what squelch was back then on those two players. The early quests are not too bad to run through and get them over as fast as possible, but for me, the higher level quests are just plain too difficult to not work in as a team.

I just wish players would remember that there are actually people like me that have not been playing since beta and I enjoy looking at the graphics, I enjoy listening to the sound effects, I enjoy going slow and trying to figure things out so I can learn them and contribute better the next time I run it.

Last night, I ran the Crucible with three players that had not done it before. Luckily, two players had and were patient. I had done it but I only had an inkling of what to do as I had always run with groups that KNEW what they were doing before. I learned some stuff, but the maze still has me confused. Next time maybe I can do it better.

Sure I died, but I did not mind the bill like I do when I get that one player that just insists on zerging and aggroing everything and running around and yelling and then expecting us to find them and kill everything. Sorcerors and wizards tend to be the worst offenders because they can typically solo most quests at those high levels.

I have been doing that sort of thing since the start of the game!!!
It's not any thing new to me!!!
I was in a crucible run Friday night and some one was jumping and agroing everything up top, then to top that off he messed up the diplo. stuff.......
(every one knows NO JUMPING) and as a rule I say it just to be safe..... Well needless to say when I all most had the maze finished and all most everything up top killed I told Him Get the F*CK out of my Quest and Drop grp NOW!!!! Well, he had no choice. You could hear a pin drop..
But yeah nothing new to me if you have no clue what your doing and your D*cking around and macking it harder to get the quest finished then well, IDK :}

I was in a reaver raid and the party leader said afk a min... someone who had just joined just started talking... not about the raid... somewhat slurring and never stopping for breath. I can't even remember his topic... but he didn't stop... a few minutes later the party leader kicks him and says something like, "Sorry, I couldn't think with that soundtrack". Dunno if he was drunk or hypercaffienated but I guess DDO PUG's aren't always the best place to monologue... especially if your voice might qualify you as a Fran Dresher relative.

I don't know what else I could say about it other than to just keep talking about how long he kept talking and not really adding anythi*BOOTED*

In situations where I am not leading the group I find the squelch command quite helpful as I can go about my job in a efficient and workman like manner. If I am the leader the character gets the boot. There is no reason for rudeness. Now that being said if it were a RP group and you are playing a surly SOB and others are in character then if the group a good with it them rock on.

Suprisingly I have never been booted, even by the mean dwarf furgie, but I am sure there are times it has been close. If I have a problem with people, I usually just tell them once, mabye twice, then adios (he gone). And I would hope that if peeps have a problem with me they just let it all out. If i keep it up after that, i would expect to get booted, and probably just laugh it off. Would give me time to bio and fill up drink, before I start annoying the next party

Since my first days on DDO I have often found the voice chat to represent alot of possible conflicts. I myself frankly do not want to hear a bunch of geeks witch and wine over everything. I really hate bossy know it alls describing everything up ahead in painful detail. I appreciate a clear quick heads up, some simple tactics to follow when im in a new quest for the first time is certainly a plus.My own logic being if I am new just stick as close to the dwarf fighter and back his play until I know what I am doing. In a quest I am familiar with I do like to sneak around range ahead maybe even pick a fight witha mob I cant be certain I will win but want to try, if my party saves me cool if not hey shat happens. I have been kicked from parties and guilds for my rants but I usually keep them in type so I am easy enough to ignore I figure the booters are being to touchy if typed rant gets em to ****y especially since I am rping a arrogent egomaniacal drow. As for yelling over voice yeah insta boot hands down after all jsut because we can hear you doesnt mean we care to hear what you have to say.

LIES, i tell you. Truth is if you hear over ten words out of me all nite, probably hitting the bottle. If i am very quiet, it's cause I am sober and probably sad But like i said, yet to be kicked out of group, but I know it's been close, and maybe a time when I bowed out gratiously to prevent leader from having to make the choice.

Best was that Titan Raid many moons back when good ole Sefuss forgot to grab a Green Stone and promptly dies about 4 steps down the tunnel.

We didn't hear a peep out of him for about 20 mins. We all gathered around the boss Flayer to end the Forge and we finally noticed his corpse and went back to retrieve it.

I seem to remember the 1st 3 or 4 rez's being wasted on him b4 he finally accepted. I dunno if the old boy was perfectly content with the added bartending time or what, but if we could have carried his stone down the tunnel we would have! lmao

Sefuss you da man! Don't let these guys give you a hard time. Noone comes anywhere close to matching your style baby!

I don't mind lousy players as long as they are trying. IMO, figuring a 'workaround' out for a party with a subpar sorc/rogue/cleric/tank/ranger is half the fun. I agree with the OP though, I can't stand abrasive or abusive players. The one advantage to PnP vs. DDO is that a lot of the behaviour you get over the internet would be met with a hard slap upside the head and/or an invitation to step outside if it were in person over a kitchen table. Just imagine what your reaction would be to a stranger who started in on you like that in your buddies basement during PnP.

I have never been kicked out of a group (it would appear that they don't mind my honest ineptitude), but I have left them mid quest before. Once in durks with lowbies, a noob was asking about rogues (her first toon) and one person said that they had to use light armour. Another started to holler at him, complete with profanity, about how if he doesn't know the class he should keep his mouth shut and anyone would know that rogues can use mithril medium armour. I said that his reaction wasn't called for and he turned on me. I only listened long enough to recall and drop group, as did the person who he started yelling at in the first place, and the noob who asked the question in the first place. What an introduction to DDO. None of that would have happened if the group leader had said cut it out and apologize or take a hike.

I have to add my voice to those who backed up the OP. By all means, boot the jerk. Just make sure you tell him why you are booting him. Much like rubbing a dog's nose in its urine on the carpet, if he doesn't know why he is being ditched he will never get any better. He probably won't change, but you have to give him the chance.

hehe Sefuss and I have been in some "interesting" PUGs together. I love his straight to confrontational style too. "What the hell did you do that for?" accosting someone who had just done something stupid. Then berrating them about 20 min later, when the incident was pretty much forgotten, with "I mean just what the hell were you thinking?"
