So I shelved this guy for a bit. I am thinking on starting over since he is only level 9 right now. I was thinking on taking 2 levels of rogue for evasion and then adding insightful reflexes. Since level 8 spells are a little lacking and the next mod will be a bump in the level cap to 20 then I won't have to worry about not having lvl 9 spells.

What level should I take my 2nd level of rogue? I have a +2 int tome so I could eat that early to get more skill points early to help with the cross class point cost.

    Thumbs up

I have a 32-point WF Wizard at 10th level, and he is easily as much fun as my capped Human Sorc. Now with Insightful Reflexes I'm almost tempted to take two levels of Rogue too.

If you're going to reroll I would wait until level 12, and 13 to take your rogue levels. Don't worry about Evasion or level 1 skill points. Get to Wizard 11 under your belt first and be a killing self-reconstructing machine. With your immunities, resists, protections, repairs, high hit points, great reflex saves, and eventual stoneskin nothing will one-shot you, and few things are going to be hurting you fast enough that you wont be able to kill first. Once in your teens the Evasion could really save your synthetic hide.

    My starting stats were:
    Str 10
    Dex 8
    Con 18
    Int 18
    Wis 10
    Cha 6

Its a small thing, but if I had it to do over again the only thing I would change is that I would pull 2 points from Str and put it into Wis. My 16 Sorc does fine with his starting 8 Str and +1 more Will save would be nice.

    Feats taken so far
    1 Mental Toughness
    1 Extend
    3 Improved Mental Toughness
5 Maximize (because sometimes you've got to put the hammer down)
6 Insightful Reflexes (Hello Remo Williams)
    9 Spell Penetration
10 Heighten (can't put this off any more)

Feats I will take when I level up.
    12 Greater Spell Penetration
15 Quicken (would like to take at 10 but Heighten is more important IMO)

Two feats my Sorc has that my Wiz won't have is Empower, and Enlarge. I like both of those (especially Enlarge) but I can't decide what other feat I can live without. ...perhaps Greater Spell Penetration.

Good luck and tell us how it turns out.

It just occured to me . . . if you do take the Rogue levels you'll not get your Wizard level 15 bonus meta-magic feat until character level 17. Oh well. But on the bright side you'll have Evasion and be able to max your UMD, and Open Lock if you allocate your skill points correctly.

If all I was worried about was evasion then I would just take rogue at level 12 and 13 and not reroll. But by rerolling I would be able to have a fully functional rogue as well. Just not sure it is worth it. Will evasion really help that much when I will be sitting with some really high hitpoints, full resists and protections etc.

    Default Necessary no, but helpful

I currently have my WF wizzy/rogue to lvl 9. (8 wiz/1 rogue) I plan on taking my 2nd rogue level at lvl 11 for evasion and to kick up my trap skills. I am an active trapsmith as I have gone along and also wield decent quarterstaffs for melee purposes. (the backstab damage is fun. Nice to see a string of 4 numbers and being the kill count leader while meleeing

This is a fairly solid build, took the time to collect/obtain +2 tomes in all stats before rolling. He is VERY self sufficient, has a usable UMD and haggle, can get traps on elite lvl 8 quests with rogue skill boosts and can melee fairly well.

My biggest concern is his mana pool. With my previous experience as a capped Sorc, it is hard to get used to such a small mana pool. I'm aiming for 1600s for mana with a tier 3 Shroud item.

Will have evasion, insightful reflexes and projected out for 300 HP. I realize that not all multi's make use of the rogue skills, I personally just thought that it would make soloing a lot easier.

Best of luck with your build! I hope you have as much fun as I have had.

How many spell points will I loose by not have 2 levels of wiz later on? The evasion with insightful reflex and an int in the mid 30's will certainly be nice to have, plus all the trap skills and umd when needed. But what will I loose? Level 8 spells are a little lacking right now without potency items.

I have extend, even at cap, for haste and displacement. I also tend to extend my resists just because i ALWAYS run out of time at exactly the WRONG time heh....My only regret is that I don't have maximize. I only have empower. At end game I find that my sp's aren't running out at all.....
