    Default Lag Spikes

    If you guys (by which I mean the devs) are not already aware, you should know that something in Mod 6 is causing massive lag spikes. I would say (though I didn't time it) we were getting a lag spike once every 15 to 30 minutes or so. It would hit the entire party at the same time, and last around 3 to 5 seconds. This was on Sarlona, and began happening with the release of Mod 6, so I presume it is related to that.

    Just thought you should know.

    I've noticed insane lag spikes that are timed, almost perfectly, with a person picking up a large number of shard fragments from a chest.

    The lag is getting worse and worse each day. The first day of the Mod it wasn't that noticeable (at least to me). Last night in the Mod 6 raid we were getting 3 to 5 second lags every 5 to 10 minutes. Not fun.

    I've got to agree with this. however, also noted, that it also seems to be dependent upon how many people are looking in the chest at that point.

    When 4+ people were all looking in the chest when the fragments were pulled, we got hit with lag.
    When 3- people were looking in the chest, there was no lag or barely a hickup.

    And of course this lag seems to hit server wide as I'll hitch a bit when there is no chest but we are assuming someone, somewhere just pulled shards.

    I've noticed it most when folks loot a chest, but there is some just running quests and outdoor vale stuff. It results in party-wide freezes for 2-3 seconds.

    Have seen spikes (on Sarlona) a couple of different times. Often during the chest extractions. Perhaps all those 749 fragments are being treated as seperate entities unlike the 1289 gold pieces, so in esssence someone is looting 749 items at once? Could that be the cause for a party lag spike.

    Other times were just in hallways in Coallessence (sp) last night.

    I don't necessarily think it's caused by chests since I've been outside in the Vale and have had the exact same thing happen. 5 seconds or more of pure frozen. Of course, that lag spike didn't stop the devils and Orthons from taking advantage of the situation by beating us senseless.

    Yeah, sometimes it's 'take two steps, pause...take two steps, pause, repeat'. Other times it's the 1 1/2 seconds were everything stops and then resumes (hopefully you aren't dead when you come back!).

    Running with the Devils last night, end fight, SEVERE lag...It was one slow frame at a time while the enemy destroyed us.

    Never really had issues with lag (bad anyway) until this mod.



    The new content is great though!!

    I haven't noticed it being related to chests. For us, it was just random. We could be fighting, walking, chatting, whatever. Of course, it could be server-wide, and someone somewhere just pulled a large number of shards. Who knows, hehe. It happened to us in Gladewatch Outpost Defense last Friday and caused us to fail the mission, which was a bummer. Last night we were running Threnal South and had it happen a few times.

    I've noticed it a few times too, though I didn't catch any particular correlation to anything else.

    It's absolutely been happening when someone in the party loots Khyber fragments (Siberys seem to be okay). But, it's also happening when no one is near a chest.

    Glad to see others chiming in on this. I noticed increased lag prior to mod six on Argo. The server is crowded from increased concurrent log-ins (holiday sales).

    However, the Argo lag and Sarlona lag are different. Argo lags are short and frequent and often studder with mobs and players phasing around. Sarlona lag is like "Time Stop" lag, it freezes everything for a good five seconds or so. First time it happened, I thought the server was crashing.

    Something as simple as directing noobs to the least crowded server can help control this.

    I've noticed it more than once, only when a chest has just been opened.

    There is definitely chest lag. The entire party was noticing it in the Vale. The chest would open and you could click on your items several times and they wouldn't go into inventory....Yet, the party could speak over VC. It only lasted a few seconds.

    The main lag that I've noticed is the 1st part of the new raid. My character has to go on portal smashing duty as all I see is the team standing still and my getting all sorts of nifty greater construct bane damage numbers for up to a minute after the team has moved onto another portal... /shrug
    Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
