The only thing I can think of, as to why they might not do WDAs the week after release, is to analyze any player data (mods run/completed, completion times, deaths, fix any stuck character points, address any DM complaints/calls about little game breaking issues, etc.) and prepare to fix those in the soon to come Nerf-update.

None of those issues above don't come to light until the new mod hits, and aren't really on the previous WDAs. They might even want to keep half of the bugs/tweaks/exploits sorta "hush-hush", until a fix is prepped for the Nerf-update.

After all, I've been doing this for over a year now. Between Song of Freedom, Inspire Courage upgrade, Crippling Strike, and now the latest rogue problems, I think there has been an issue almost constantly since November of 2006. What's funny is that no other classes have had nearly the same problems with their class abilities. Only bards and rogues. Okay, maybe funny isn't the right word. Irritating is probably more like it. When problems affect some classes, they rush to fix it as soon as possible, usually in a quick patch. Bards and rogues? Maybe in the next module, if you're lucky.(Okay, one problem was fixed in the next update or so, a month or two later. The rest were 3-4 months down the road) Someone in this thread mentioned wanting to see the Rogue love in the next update. Before we get into that, how about finishing the rogue love from the last one?

Edit: And before anyone says it, yes, rangers usually seem to be in the same boat.

Being a Ranger would be fine, if they got the issues fixed so we can actually get what we're entitled to. We can't pick up Oversized Two Weapon Fighting as a Feat because we remained pure Rangers, but apparently if you took a level somewhere else, you can take it.

Wouldn't mind being able to put a 1st level spell into the additional 4th level spot as well. None of the 4th level spells except Freedom of Movement are worth it. We can get a cat that'll die 30 seconds after being summoned, give everyone a non-stacking 15% movement rate (who hasn't at least that much already on a Striding item at that level?), or throw a weak Cure Serious healing spell. I'd much rather put Tumble or Merfolk's Blessing in that extra 4th level spell slot. There's no way I'm dropping Jump, Ram's Might, or Resist Energy.

I too would agree with the OP. It seems the whole point of the WDA's is to keep us somewhat informed as to what is going on for the future of this game that we all seem to love. If they are working on some things this week, I too feel there ought to be some sort of info on it. I understand that the Dev team is in no way obligated to dish out the info we do get, but they have established a trend now that does speak well of their efforts to communicate with us. It is one that most members of the community appriciate. If the anniversery "update" is to be pretty much secret, then just say, "The majority of what we are working on is top secret, and we will get word on it to you soon." Add in the other not so "secret" bits and be done with this week's WDA.

Also a friendly reminder to all the Turbine people, it is the Valentine season (I know, the end of the season of misery), so please don't cheese off the ones who love ya for this game.

There is very little that will be told about the VAST and MYSTERIOUS Update 6.1 ...

However, when it comes to Module 7... we'll be posting a WDA for that next week.

I did say in the past that the WDA would not be published the week after a module release because there was little to tell, and that is generally true for any module. It's not that there isn't plenty of work that has been done, it's more that the pipeline isn't carrying the information to me yet. The valve just got switched from Mod 6 to 7, and the information backup hasn't hit me yet.

It also has much to do with how busy everyone is during the week of a module release. You should see it around here. Its really crazy the week of a release, and I have very little time to sit at my desk and write a WDA for the next week, and I enjoy my thumbs much too much to do it on my Blackberry.

But if I did... it'd be 1 spell and a bugfix

I get the impression it is supposed to be a suprise for the players and to tell you what it was... would make it no longer a suprise.

I figured there was no WDA this week due to the events Sunday, considering location and all
