Default New Death Penalty Yay or Nay?

Ok, got a post already talking about it, lets get a post going where we only say yay or nay and why.

Make it easy to count up who's against it and whos for it, no "Get over it" post and no discusion that has to with "Well if you did this you wouldn't have a problem." Please post these in the other thread where we are DISCUSSING IT. Just basically doing a poll. Try not to post more than 1 time if you can help it, even edit your old post if you wish.

Try to make them short but give a little detail.

.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..................................................

I vote nay.

I see more peeps running off in pugs and not caring they die in the new system, meanwhile I do. Also I cant afford the repairs, especially when bad groups cause multiple deaths, maybe if I got better pugs this wouldnt be such an issue, but because some it seems dont care bout their equip, peeps that do like me are suffering for it.

.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..................................................

So as of post #53 resulsts are:
Nay: 18
Yay: 23
Inbetween/Undecided: 8

YES!

It's the system we have and they are NOT going to change it back.

Yes.

Capped characters fear death. Mid-levelers still fear it, but are not set back like before. Spamming deaths will cripple you in a quest, so hopefully people are going to stop accepting multiple deaths per character to finish a quest.

Thumbs up Yay!

If more people say nay than yay, it means it is working... And so far thats how it is, so I said yay!

You shouldn't like the death penalty because you shouldn't like dying!

I dont care either way. I dislike the item damage system period, but anything is better then corpse runs to retrieve your items.

Nay

I value my stuff, I try to keep it in good order............ but Im not rich, not by a long shot. Im down in plat this year having 50K on one, 40k on two and 10k or less on my other 7 for a combined wealth of about 200K minus the cost of healing, supplying and properly equiping my guys I was barely breaking even. With the new penalty slowly chipping away at my funds.......... I will need to stop buying on the AH and only sell and carefully monitor what I spend............. I am also wary of whom I group with. (Id rather just take a penalty of -20% to quest xp as if I had recalled)

That is completely irrational. I have found plenty of fragments and I'm only level five! I play permadeath, so obviously my punishment is worse, though my regular characters don't die often at all. The current penalty makes you scared of dying, no? Isn't that what it is supposed to do? I am by no means an uber player, I haven't even 32point builds. Our PD guild is not allowed to use the Auction House so money is always a concern.

As long as you just play safe and do not die, your fine. I understand that some people, if not most people, zerg quests and cause your death too, but that just means you leave the group and never play with them. If you do not like the way your group plays, either tell them, or leave. It would be a good idea to find a guild that plays nice and slow without dying every encounter. But if that didn't change your mind the slightest, have a good 'out-of-DDO' experience.

I don't like it; I think the experience penalty was much more suitable to preserving the integrity of the game rather than instituting a "death tax" which reduces death to having an infuriatingly minor impact on your character. At least the experience penalty felt right within the concept of the game; now the only real drawback of death involves tipping a barkeeper.

Yes. Neither the money nor the xp loss are exactly hard to overcome, but the damage system has more concrete results. It helps reduce the rate at which funds are accumulated without really crippling anyone (anyone who dies enough to be really crippled by the death penalty in repairs wouldn't advance through all that xp loss either..). And dying too much can make it less likely you will success in the quest, which I like, since you might lose equipment or be suffering some sort of debuff at a critical time. The damage system also applies to all characters of all levels, instead of only to characters not at the level cap.

Actually it is destroying the plat economy for potion drinkers. We are becoming far more cleric dependent and it's not a good thing(it's destroying their finances... soon enough clerics will plan recalls and such to go for spellpoints, and it will become normal). I'm surprised people still expect us to be able to buy from the Auction House. It seems to get ahead anymore you need to pay off some plat spammers in real world cash(like some specific people I can name do) just to keep moving along without a hitch.

Also: Death penalty - still in debate. Very bad for favor runs/speed runs(flagging, etc), and completely destroys Raids, but is negligible on Slayer runs. I do NOT like having to repair 900 things every time my character gets stuck in a lag spike. Currently 75% bad, 25% good

I don't think it's possible to spend a Million plat on repairs in 2 or 3 days. Unless you are constantly standing in a group of Rust Monsters, ressing and going out for repairs only to come back for more punishment. Even then, I doubt it's possible unless you are doing this 6-8 hours a day for those days.

As for my opinion on the new death penalty, I think the fact people don't like the effects of death proves it's working.

Nay.

I thought the xp debt was a better deterrent. I would rather work harder and smarter to avoid serious debt than to get stuck with an inept pug group and being de-leveled while in the quest through no fault of your own. Then get a second slap in the face with massive repairs. Saving money for that new weapon or armor is a lot harder now. I mean, let's face it, we all tried to avoid death with the old system to avoid the xp debt. Now the punishment is double.
Help! Help! I'm being repressed!
