Ren's Foster a Newb Program

For those new to the game, getting nice level appropriate gear is next to impossible. It's on the Auction House, but with no coin, you're left drooling. Without decent gear, the DDO experience can be painful during lower levels and we might lose new players because of it.

To that end, I'd like to start a new not-for-profit program called Ren's Foster a Newb Program. I'm currently sponsoring a newb. He simply emails me his class and level and what he needs. I keep an eye out for loot I think he could use and send it to him free of charge. He also keeps me updated on his level advancement so I can get higher level stuff for him. Finally, I make myself available to answer questions he has about the game. Now, I don't have the patience to run him through lowbie quests, but this little bit of help may make the difference.

If you are a newb and would like a sponsor or foster parent if you will, just post here and I'll try to set you up with someone. This is only open to first time players. If you would like to be a sponsor, again just PM me or post here.

Do foster children get adopted into the guild come maturity or do you kick 'em to the curb come their 18th birthday?

Or better yet, do you put them all in a ring and tell them daddy only loves the one that survives?

You know I honestly had an idea like this a while back- Noob boxing: Hold a noob boxing tourney where the grand prize was a full set of starter gear including +1 tome(s). The tourney would be core class specific so that you wouldn't have wizards boxing barbs, but that's it! Multiple rounds with a 30 second rest to candy cane up, and then back at it. Refs to monitor any illegal buffs. The only clothing allowed are gloves... I'm really not sure how to handle the whole wearing of a con ring not showing up as a buff thing- inever did think it all the way through...

LEGION 12 STEPS
1. I declared that I had complete and total control over my LEGION friends and that I can completely manage my life and still hang onto my other friends while I consistently group more and more with LEGION.

2. Came to know that I needed no one and that LEGION would help me maintain my happiness and sanity

3. Made a decision to harness the benefits of any exploit I chose to use.

4.Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of all my non-legion friends.

5.Admitted to no one, including myself, any of my wrongs, no matter how evident.

6. I became entirely ready to defend, excuse, and justify my actions and those of any legion member, using personal attacks on others (whenever possible), and to minimize any mistake I may make.

7. Boldly declare that I have no shortcomings
<during this step, it is reinforced in the newbs mind over and over by legion members that anything bad they ever did could not be forgiven>.

8. Made a list of all persons that had (or that I thought had) harmed me and searched for opportunities to "collect" on those debts.

9. Collected whatever I felt that I am "owed", whenever possible regardless of the fact that doing so may cause injury or pain to someone else.

10. Continued to take an inventory of others "wrongs" against me and promptly collected on them whenever possible.

11. Sought through experimentation, "expert opinions", partying, and the advice of LEGION, a better, stronger character build. I search only for more knowledge of how and what to use, and the means to do so without consequences.

12. Having an enjoyable experience from my time with LEGION, I will ask for probationary membership to LEGION and the opportunity to carry this message to other suffering gamers to lead them to practice these principals in all their affairs with me.

I can seem to get my self out of the Smugglers Rest. Some chick named Elphonia keeps sending me to collect some gems... but since I need cash I keep selling them in the Tavern. She keeps giving me the same quest... ha, isn't she stupid.

Its strange tho... i can't seem to get any xp and the game world is very small... And the players... there aren't any! I see some, for a minute or two... then they disappear! I guess they just gave up. Perhaps they never figured out that you can cheat Elphonia out of her gems.... hee hee stupid them.

Any how, since I cant seem to get to 1000xp... and you are lvl 15 i thought maybe you could help me.

What a novel idea...if I sponsor a newb do I get to haze them? I mean free gear and advice should not come at a zero price...I think I should be able to laugh at them and as their sponsor they have to take it!

Seriously great idea. I try and help out folks new to game any chance I get via info and gear. My last newb made it to level 14 before the cap (daddy was so proud ) so I guess I could take on a new one. Although I don't have any twink gear (I sell it all and swear I'll never make another toon - and get mad at myself everytime I do roll another one up) I will gladly help via advice and tips. And as a rare treat I rerolled Braegan recently...so after I get my others capped and such my sponsor can actually level up with the legend

lol I really just said that I am a legend is because so much of old Xoriat only knows me as Braegan and regardless of who I am playing still calls me "Brae." Even though I stopped playing Braegan a year ago almost. I just feel my characters name is legendary
