    Default Don't sweat it

This isn't an exploit, just reasonable behavior by anyone who wants to get back quick after a long quest.

If you like running around being chased by rats that do Mach 3 then by all means go ahead.

No doubt there will one day be a way to teleport there; until this is added think of this as a workaround.

If the game has journeys that must be done (like the trek to Chains of Flame) then I'll do it with maybe a bit of grumbling.

If instead there is an easy way to avoid such an unrewarding adventure don't be surprised/complain if people take advantage of it.

As for the roleplaying aspect, remember this is a world where people can die five times in an hour; given the value of convenience to adventurers, I think it qualifies for the moment as an acceptable (though gruesome) form of travel.

Bah, forget fixaming this. Instead give Kargon a shortmacut that kargon can hit to instantamally un-equip all weapamons, gear and armormer. Kargon sure somemabody else on forums can give it a silly name thats not TOO raunchy.

How bout no, so when i get stuck on something in a public place I dont have to call a gm over and say teleport me so i dont take item damage. If they did this where you take damage to items from /deathing inn a public place, I would waste gm time to teleport me, because if I come out of a dung most likely my slots are gonna be full, and I think I'd do it outa principle if they werent.

Good god no. Doing something like that just because you don't like Death Taxi when it in no way impacts your character other than by a violation of your personal game style is very poor game design.

Death taxi is happening because people don't have GT/Teleport to Meridia. If you want to discourage a loop hole for a necessary part of the game, give a POSITIVE award for not doing it, rather than a negative. (No deaths in 7 days of play? You get a damage free death next time!) That way people can opt in to the RPG element, rather than out.

And when recalling from ANY quest in the Vale/Shroud, it should send you to Meridia as well, once you've talked to the Grandmaster inside.

Let's hope it's Update 6.1: Adding Meridia to teleport and greater teleport

Maybe the devs started to notice the obesity epidemic in Stormreach (everyone making high hp dwarves) and decided our characters just need to run more to get ready for ultimate fighting machine monks. Wait? Dwarves can be monks too? Really? Flurry of Beers? Oh... I guess that makes sense.

Heres a couple work arounds for the people that feel left out and want the same expeditious travel without the death.

    1. Use a Ddoor, walk out the front door to the Vale and recall. = Back in Meridia.

    2. If you do not have Ddoor, recall to the vale, enter the dungeon again, walk out, recall. = Back in Meridia.

Those are the best work arounds I have found since I do not have but one open slot in my backpack.

Hope that helps some of yall.

Did both...both sent me back to the 12.

Next time, I was sent to Meridia.

    Next time, the 12.

    Why? Who the heck knows?

I wish this was a consistant work around.

These work arounds have worked for me when I finish a quest only. Maybe I have just been lucky, but if I recall from a quest to the vale, walk back in the quest, walk back out and then recall it seems to work. My load times are very fast so it doesn't bother me any. If you have a slow computer, you wont be saving much time doing this.
If anyone else tries these methods, let us know how they work for you. Thanks Muffin for trying and reporting your finds.

Where in the two sentences that you quoted did I say anything about applying a death penalty in public areas?

How, in a two sentence long post, did you miss the sentence "Add in the teleporters"? Even after quoting the post?

    Jeez.

I didn't. Lets not play games here.....my objection was to your suggestion that all items be damaged, and that should fairly clear by what I wrote. If it was not, it should be now.

Even after T-port is added, damaging everything you haul is a poor game design choice, and no longer serves the purpose for which you proposed it, and would merely antagonise those that had no res options (who had to /death) due to circumstance and get hit with a huge damage bill and a -20% re-entry penality, all to stop people who are doing something that you don't happen to like, while at the same time having zero impact on your ability to play the game.

Hmmm..the addition of a Strip Button may be worth tolerating some of the poor design choices that were made....but only for a few weeks.

That would only work if the Vale instance hasn't reset since you entered the quest. A teammate staying outside while others do the quest would cause that...

honestly, i don't care about people doing /death. why would it matter to someone else. its better to focus on getting a teleporter in there than complaining about a workaround for a problem. I've also noticed the 50% chance of getting either the 12 or meridia. oh well, if i get the twelve then i just make the short run(i do have 30% striders though).

If you are going to carry that much expensive stuff into a dangerous area you should be prepared to deal with the consequences.
If dying in a tavern would affect all of your equipment it's hella expensive to pvp.

It wasn't. As you may remember you said:

So yes, adding a teleport would tie up that loose end.

Let's not kid ourselves. There is no death penalty in taverns. With teleports added in there is no need for a death taxi. Having to /death "due to circumstances" is extremely rare, and a death penalty would only really apply in dungeons. So it's not really worth hinging a policy on, it is a tiny exception not a rule.

Oh and it's not a matter of liking or not, I don't really care if people were/are using death taxis. All that tells me is that there should be a teleporter there to save people the trouble.

I didn't propose a purpose, it was the developers. They wanted a system that scaled with the power level of the character. Right now it scales to a fraction of that in higher level/heavily twinked characters, it leaves out some of our most delicate equipment that should be easily damaged, and it is encouraging people to look into panic stripping. Stupid but true.

Seriously, when did I mention adding in penalties to taverns?

Since your inventory is more or less extra dimensional space (how else could you carry five two-handers and three shields, etc in it?) it stands to reason it'd be cushioned from hitting the ground when you drop.
If it's a matter of extradimensional space for all of our bags we shouldn't be able to hotkey any equipment in them- it takes a relatively long time to fish things out of those spaces. If they are bags of holding they have a base weight- nobody would ever be at 0 weight carried- and we should be checking for damage on them. If they get dinged up you lose everything in them. Portable holes weigh nothing but are a pain to retrieve anything from- so shouldn't anything in your fifth inventory slot take a ridiculously long time to get to? Plus who is paying for all of these magic items? Who is making them? Isn't it more likely that Turbine just didn't apply encumberance rules properly than say everyone is carrying extradimensional space?

Now more to the point- why shouldn't your easily damaged potions/scrolls/wands take damage? Or your spare weapons on your belt?

Of course it's silly. But if we are going to have it and it's to serve its intended function it should be expanded.

Teleporters are too modern. They would mean that technology actually DID progress as described.

I have lost interest in powergaming this, but still run it strategically as always. I don't like my characters dying because it costs wands(Cure Serious... until they make a stronger one), potions(Same as before... I can't seem to get a party for the new silver flame stuff) and scrolls(teleport, GT, GH, Heal, Raise Dead, etc), and I can't readily replace those funds. Loot runs seems to be the only option. Loot runs where my people don't ever die.

I find it disturbing that people still GT then /death so often. It unnerves me.
