Arrow The Shroud Raidzone completed on Khyber

We just beat the shroud about an hour ago. It was an amazingly and challenging fight but we pulled it off quite well.

It was done by a pick up group of some of my best friends on the server and a few people I just met that night that definetely worked well as a team.

Several guilds were represented: The free companions (my guild), The prophets of the new republic and several others.
This is the first known 100% completion of the raid on Khyber.

Done on hard as well (02-07-08) - should be first on Khyber as well:

Similar group to this first run, few more guild members, some alts of the first run, all great players.
Overall it was actually easier and less resource intensive because we knew the raid much better from many runs earlier this night to loot ingredients. Tho Arraetrikos himself was a fair bit boosted (CR32) and all the mobs too, we had a really strong group that had no problems with it, very few deaths at all. Part3 was amazing, the smoothest run of it ever, we had all puzzle cept 2 done before the wall even apeared, then quickly completed those too.. So was a 100% complete run with all chests looted.

Some details of the first run on normal for those curious:
    Phase 1:
Very easy. Clearly designed as the part for the more casual/less uber players. Quick and simple 15minuit fight. No trouble here at al.
    Phase 2:
A serious challenge. This section is the so called "pacman" area.. Where you fight 4 luitenants, chosen at random from a large pool. We were given these: A paragon kobold (Equipped with vorpal), a Troglodyte shaman (powerful caster), a fire elemental (rather easy really) and one of the hardest ones: the bearded devil.. He is extremely difficult as he teleports around the entire area every few seconds.
Tho we were well organized and pull it offf with only 1 death near the end.
    Phase 3:
Doing the puzzles,, everyones was new to this part except 1-2 people, so when the prismatic wall hit, 10 of 12 party members died - all except me and the cleric twoheals. Was really exciting trying to outrun the wall and avoid a party whipe, but we pulled it off and regroup eventually. This is the only section that I actually died in, those traps are nasty.
    Phase 4:
Fun battle. Wasn't much trouble against our might. We had 4 excellent tanks, a maxxed out warchanter bard, and I was equipped with a transmuting of greater lawful outsider bane greataxe, so our DPS was excellent.
    Phase 5:
An amazing battle. Only the truely elite will survive this. .. We kinda messed up at the start and clicked the altar too soon.. oops! so some eneded up inside with no mana, it was bad.. But somehow we did an amazing recovery and got back up on our feat. It proved to be an incredible battle, the pit fiend could easily annilate anyone with less then 400 hp.. But we kept on him the whole time non stop and with some amazing healing power we endured and we took him down. I'd estimate his hitpoints at well over 1million.

Thankyou to everyone that came. Sucks we are on timer and can't farm it anymore but oh well, we got hard unlocked, thats what counts!

    Great job Shade!

Do you mind going a little bit more in to detail about phase 2? My pug was having trouble with it. How do you make the barrier around the crystal go down?

I didn't read any mention of the excellent leadership on that mission. Most excellent lead role played by Axer (Shade). Not to diminish the accomplishments of any individual but the gameplay of Axer and Twoheals was as much entertainment to watch as the mission was to play. The loot on this mission is not amazing. Travelling with the people in Axer's photo was MY treasure. Thanks to all...

Need I reiterate the rules of the achievement forum:

Player 4: We were trying but looks like you beat us. Gratz anyway.
    Unacceptable Discussion:
    Player 1: Nobody cares
Player 2: quit blowing your own horn
Player 3: This guild is a bad guild and you should avoid them
Player 4: My guild could do it faster than yours

Had a BLAST! I would say that the Hero method is the way to go on this. Now if only every tank could have Twoheals next to him.Don't forget "Lava Divers" were there too!

    Default Grats!

    Good Job!

I hope this doesn't mean we'll get a new shot of steroids in that quest now. We all know what happed to the abbott when it got beat so quickly

Seriously though, that's awesome. Great job!

Sure here is my strategy for phase 2:
Before you go in, decide on 4 well balanced teams. Ideally 1 melee, 1 healer, 1 arcane, but certainly other combos can work well too. Now when you go in - youll all be randomly seperated - however you do not all have to fight in those teams.. So don't. Be careful and just stand still at your initila trees and determine which group is the strongest.. That group will set out carefully and clear there way to the other 3 groups - avoiding going into the center to not agro the 4 luitenants, but making sure to clear the entire maze of all non-named monsters.

Once the party is fully regrouped, proceed near the center and get ready. Everyone should still be near full mana, but if some are low they can regen in the tree. If you are careful you tell which 4 luitenants are there without agroing them - They are chosen from a random set of 8 bosses as follows - semi ordered in most frequent to least: Bearded Devil, Fire Elemental, Troll, Troglodyte, Orc, Kobold, Earth Elemental, Gnoll

Assign appropriate teams to each luitenant, and assign corners of the maze they should fight in. This is important because in order to have a good chance at suceeding - all 4 boses should be killed roughly at the same time, and at the farther points from the center as they can rezz themselves if there ghost reachs that point.. Like pacman.

But if your careful and let 1 tank handle 1 each it should be easy to devide and conquer them. Here's a couple hints on some of the luitenants:

The bearded devil - He doesn't understang agro - hes crazy. He will just randomly teleport contiously to each of the 4 corners making it extremely difficult to fight him. If this happens it's often best to bring the team that is fighting him to another team he is attacking the most... Even tho he will heal the other guy you should have the DPS to take both down together.
Fire elemental - Ultra fast ghost, 3x or more faster then other ghosts.. So always try your best to killl him last and have asomeone standing by to estroy the crystal.
Paragon Kobold - often his ghost is bugged so you can just kill him outright and he won't figure out how to rez himself (kobolds arent very smart)

So yea kill all 4. once all 4 are dead the barrier around the crystal will lower, and you can shatter it. Usuually a quick fireblal or disintegrate is best, as it does have a bit of HP so ranging it can sometimes take too long.

Oh btw original post updated with 2nd victory.

For clerics, cometfall rocks to break the crystal. Same for the crystals in part 3, especially the three over the south gate (one cometfall will hit all 3 crystals).

You have to watch the sneaky devil too, he can teleport to strange places, in one run he killed someone and then teleported to the dead people room and wouldn't move. Another time someone had to DD and he ported to the start of the quest.

I'm sure you've noticed since this post or had him spawn at some point or another Shade, but there is also an Orthon red named that can spawn in part 2.

    Default Well done!

Instead of waiting for any specific props to me or my fellow guildies (Ellistran, Norg) I thought I'd actually post something on the forums in honour of our accomplishment and contribution to yes, a well led raid by Axer (I really don't want to feed his ego any more than he does himself haha). So I'm going to point out that it indeed required less mana pot consumption than the first time around where I think combined between me, Two and Ellistran was around 125ish majors where as this time we may have only used 35ish combined. Outside of the fact that we are more experienced at the raid we also had the company of some very accomplished players in Mavnimo, Valok, and Cay helping to make it much easier. I haven't had the chance to party much with the others I didn't mention but they all did a fine job. I like the fact that we all tried to contribute to the success of the raid and we had a good time doing it rather than pointing fingers at any mistakes. It'll be nice to give it a go on elite soon, see ya all there!
