    Default Rainbow Of Dark

Not sure what the name of this dungeon is but:

I know I have been a naysayer as of late about how I think the "prototype crafting" thing is ridiculous, and about how Manyshot is still crummy, and the fact that there are NO gnomes even on the horizon. But I would like to say this:

This new quest rocks. The darkness in the dungeon is awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The darkness was simultaneously irritating and creepy and challenging. Kudos for a well done quest.

I have to go back now and figure out what chests are actually real and which were only there to lead me to my DDDOOOOOOMMM!!

I died three times in that quest with my scouting ranger and I still loved it. I hope more quests are like this one.

Yeah I died in the pit trying to get past those spikes, wish the light source had a larger radius of effect. But it was fun would like to be able to see some cubes in lower level dungeons like back in the old pnp days but was fun seeing them. All in all I enjoyed the quest just another reason to be glad to come back to the game this week

I want more dungeons like this that allow people with a high Spot, True Seeing items and a good monitor setup to be able to just faintly see enough to turn all the lights off in their house and scout ahead of the party without the need of the light for most things. Of course, stupid people just rush up next to you while you are sneaking and end up causing partywipes. They just don't understand Sneak Mode...

Love the area, like being able to banish almost everything in the dungeon(normal only, *sigh* lower some HD's or raise some HDs on Banishers plz), don't enjoy being hit with Flesh to Stone in any instance ever(scorpions nail you with it... ugh... then I roll 3, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 3, 20)

The dungeon looks great. Hated the fact that the blue teleport ring spawned right on top of the rest shrine. That pretty much ended it for my group. Only time it did that though, so just bad luck i suppose.

    agreed,

kudos to the designer(s) and devs. The mood that the lighting creates is a great change of pace, and the dungeon is well designed to emphasize that. Nice traps too. more like this one!

Those gellantenous cubes were awesome. We had one fall upon one of our party members and it well, ate him.

I love the feel of this quest, but the light problems are annoying. I just turn gamma way up to see. If flaming weapons and firewalls actually cast light like you'd expect, I'd want to see more quests like this.

It appears to be a magical darkness and the sceptre is the only method of "dispelling" it.

I agree that this dungeon is a great change from the normal. It certainly discourages zerging barbarians.

There is a potential griefing situation if someone grabbed the sceptre and took off running. I'm sure they'd die quickly, but still...

They are all real. Challenging to get to but real. We have gotten the "puzzle chests" once and been close on at least one other occasion.

So the quest has a potential of 5(end, named beholder, locked chest in trapped corridor, 2 past puzzle) chests.

I love this quest too! brings back that old dungeon-crawl feeling from the old PnP days!

It is possible, however, for folks to zerg it without the light -- I ran it last night with a pseudo-pug (i knew all but a couple of the guys even though i was the only one from my guild in there) and while I was helping one of the casters get through the pole-hopping-over-the-spikes obstacle, the other 4 went ahead and did everything but turn in the light (since I had it )

man that quest is fun still don't know the combination for the extra chest and I don't like rusties since they ripped my pallies armor to shreds. other than that I love it you have to fight smart don't zerg and watch your step.

The first time I ran this I three manned it with a Wizard and another Rogue. It was a Blast. We progressed slowly and actually used tactics to get through, but there were plenty of Great Surprises. Not knowing the quest, or knowing what to expect and actually being able to finish it, made it one of the most fun and satisfying adventures I've had in the game. Well Done.

It's also another example of how the new quests in general have given clerics some of the fun back... Banishment in general has become deliriously fun to use, but the moment I realized that Destruction works on those beautiful gelatinous cubes... well. I prefer to let the tanks try to kill it first and save the sp for healing, but there's something deeply satisfying about downing one of those buggers with one click
