Default Smiting enhancements and Flame Strike

This is actually from a thread in the cleric forums but I thought that I would bring it over here.

Shouldn't the smiting enhancement for clerics should affect the holy damage of flame strike. Could a dev look at that and fix it if it's not working correctly?

How about, with the addition of Firestorm, we just add Fire damage to the Smiting enhancement.

Then it would cover 10 spells (Nimbus of Light, Searing Light, Holy Smite, Order's Wrath, Unholy Blight, Chaos Hammer, Flamestrike, Firestorm) instead of just 8-and-a-half. I still probably wouldn't waste SPs on it, but it might be worthwhile to some people.

It's working as intended, half the damage from Flame strike is of the Divine Type, the Smiting enhancements only affect light spells and alignment spells (good, evil, lawful, and chaotic), divine is not an alignment type.

I thought it works on Holy and Unholy damage as well? Half the damage from flame strike is fire and half is holy I believe if it does.

No. It's not technically "holy" damage:

A flame strike produces a vertical column of divine fire roaring downward. The spell deals 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 15d6). Half the damage is fire damage, but the other half results directly from divine power and is therefore not subject to being reduced by resistance to fire-based attacks.
Technically, speaking, I suppose it's untyped damage.

Well ****. Okay new strategy. Go with MT's suggestion and add fire damage to the smiting enhancement. Fire seems to be the favored method of destruction for divine beings anyway.

Last I checked, the smiting enhancements do not boost the divine half Flamestrike. IMO, it should. But, it doesn't.
