The new Mail UI has a MAJOR flaw

So unconfirmed mail.. neat idea, but basically only there because of Spam from platt farmers etc.
The delete all button is poorly placed and well it is too easy for you to delete mail that has been sent to you by guildies, alts, whatever. This is especially a problem when that mail falls into the unconfirmed mail and has items.

I petitioned a GM who said basically said; yeah that sucks but its not our policy to do anything about it.

Come on, first day with a new mail UI and thats the answer you get?

Bad form on whom ever decided how the mail gets filtered and how powerful that button is.

Unfortunately that is no different then your average e-mail system. If the filter puts an e-mail into junk and you aren't paying attention and click empty junk mail folder, Poof. I don't know that they can make a perfect filter. The other issue is unconfirmed doesn't mean plat spam. Did you have the character who sent you the mail on your friends list??

look before you push until we all figure out a better way to work with it.

There are many other things in the game that are difficult to get around but we've found a way in most cases..........

mainly do to the mistakes we all make initially like the one you may have made today.

Guidies mail should go to confirmed. If its not, bug report it.

As for your alts, friend them and then their mail will go to confirmed, that is how white lists work...

This is also noted in the "Known Issues" list with a warning to be careful.

As per the patch notes:

The Mail UI now has two separate lists of mail. Confirmed mail - Mail sent by the game (ie auction mail), alt characters, current friends, current guildmates, and admins. Unconfirmed mail - Mail from players who are not currently on your friends list or in your guild. There is also a "Delete All" button which allows you to delete all unconfirmed mail.

If mail from guildmates, alts, friends or admins end up in unconfirmed mail, that is a bug. Report it.

Otherwise, if the system is working as intended, then it should be impossible to Delete All anything from guildies or alts, because Delete All only works for Unconfirmed mail.

Personally I think this new system is bogus. It made things less convenient, not more. Now I have two mailboxes to sort instead of one. There are better solutions out there and yet we get this. It really just boggles the mind.

I'm *guessing* it "deletes all" to prevent spammers from attaching 1cp to avoid deletion.

Alts not being confirmed sounds like a bug. Workaround = add your alts to your guild or friends list.

That was my thought as well. I am also wondering if new mail will be sorted correctly but old mail was just dumped into the unconfirmed list.

Mail from my alts properly goes into the confirmed side, and I'm not friend with them!
So bug it out I guess.

are all your alts in the same guild? if so, then i'd guess that the filter is only looking at guildies, and not characters on an account.

maybe there needs to be a button added to the mail display box(when reading a message, that allows you to make the sender a confirmed sender..
