If this game is this fricking hard to install and play then forget it! It took 3 hrs just to do all the dang patches and they only "fix" is to uninstall and reinstall? and tis the patcher/launcher. Ya' all are seriously screwe dup to not have fixed this problem that has posting as far back as 2012. FIX THE ISSUE AND better response from Turbine than this stupid stuff.

I had the same issue. I was reinstalling because my loading bar wasn't loading sometimes but it didn't help. Anyways, I followed all the steps in the KB article, making sure the correct files were not run as administrator, compatibility mode, even tried to run them all as administrator just to see. The only thing that worked for me was dropping the user account control settings to zero, launching the game, and the install was then able to continue including updating the dat files. Then I put my UAC settings back to normal.

    Default Uninstall Akamai

I was able to overcome this error by completely uninstalling both DDO and the Akamai client. When I reinstalled ddolive.exe, it installed a fresh copy of Akamai which successfully downloaded all of the required .dat files.

Same problem here. Been playing this game a long time, never had this much trouble before.

Not sure who posted fix solution, but problem appeared to be with ddo (Lama) installing into hidden folder (C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Turbine I may be wrong here) due to some admin privileges issues. So first download launcher installed files into hidden folder and then tried to copy files into installation folder. And some dat files was missing. So i deleted all dat files in both folders and just let it download them again. Fix worked.

Check the link in my signature for Download DDO folks, remove your existing install and then use the files I uploaded, please check the file hashes for each file (Google HashTab) to make sure they all match then perform the install.

Default Figured it out, I think.

It seems that the game downloaded a bunch of DLL files and all of the .dat files to User/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files (86X)/Turbine/Dungeons & Dragons Online.

I just copy/pasted everything in there to the main installation, fixed my issue.

    This is for Windows 7.

Just figured I'd say something here because it took me a week and 27 fresh installs and a bunch of other garbage to get to this point, so I hope it helps someone.

    Default Error 201!!

I thought this Error 201 was going to be the bane of my DDO existence. Four down loads with no success, then a shot with Shadowwalker's files, and no success.

Then I uninstalled again. I went to the Download section and tried the play while downloading. That has worked for me.

Good luck to all y'all who face this problem.

I am having the same problem with the error 201 when I try to launch the game. Could you give me the steps you took to fix the problem?

The error means that you are missing files from the game in your install directory, see the link in my signature for "Download DDO".
