Are you guys going to screw my game (yes it's mine and I bought it) up from now on? the Vista "fix" was no such thing.
Kinda torqued off right now, so I shall digress, egress, and regress.

Your launcher isn't experiencing issues, its the game trying to read or write the data files and that is a permissions issue. Did you install the game into a folder other than program files before this update?

Did you check all the folders/files to ensure that you have access?

Elebar, if its not saving the settings then that definitely sounds like user account permission issues.

It's in c:/program files/turbine I don't know what's going on at all. The Vista "fix" was not a fix.

Please create a new standard user profile in windows for troubleshooting purposes. It does appear that your current windows profile is not getting the necessary permissions to write to the data files.

We are thinking it may be an issue with the new launcher/client reading the userpreferences file. But until we get an answer from developer land, that is only speculation. Creating a new profile normally clears up these permission type issues because it sort of "resets" a lot of UAC settings.

Elebar, if its not saving the settings then that definitely sounds like user account permission issues.

And how do I fix it? There was no problem before this update and I didn't have any issue with any other software... so...

Not being able to change a file from read only to writable would not be something the game can control, only windows can do that, you will need to make sure the account trying to do it has access to do so, you can check under user settings in the control panels.

Ok... this is getting RIDICOLOUS. I fixed the thing with the folders attributes, and it was still crashing on the splash screen. So I uninstall it and download from scratch again. Then I have an error 131 something about the ID string 131 missing on the corestrings.dll. So, I force the pre-patch again, still getting the same 131 error. Uninstall again and reinstall, still getting the 131 error, now I can't even see the splash screen. I'm going backwards!!! at this rate I won't be even able to initialize the launcer next.... oh.. and yes I'm quite frustated at this time.

If you're getting the 131 error remove the userpreferences.ini file and then start the game again.

This method has helped me as well as a few others, just download it through FilePlanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/102919/0/0...n/Game_Clients), and install it, problem solved.

I am having the same problem. I get the 201 error after choosing my server. I just reinstalled and reactivated my account to see the improvments and changes to the game. Not even being able to play is not very impressive. I am playing on vista. I have tryed all the posted things and nothing is working.

Please help, or maybe point me to where i can get this subscription fee refunded.

Hi, I've just installed the DDO trial and I'm thinking about subscribing. There's only one problem, I can't launch the game on Vista because of this error. I'm running the game as an admin user and I've explicitly given myself full control over the DDO install folder and all of it's child objects, still no luck running the game. I've also created a second test account just to try with and without UAC, still no luck at all.

Turbine, if you want more people to actually play and pay for your game then sort this **** out so we can do so.
