Amaranth is one of the best in the game in my opinion... why do you ask well let me illuminate you.

1. Zerging cleric "Go with him if you want to live"
2. Wicked offense skills and crowd control
3. Handles triage and mana consumption extremly well
4. Can take a hit and survive so no need for protection from melee
5. Being a melee with him you almost never have to worry about your bar (He knows how much he heals for so he pretty much knows when you need a heal) so you can just hack away.
6. He is just plain badass
7. His shield says "Bad Motherf***er" on it!

I could go on and on, at the end of the day in 2 years I have with many excellent clerics and some pretty bad ones and Amaranth is pretty much #1 on the excellent side.
