    Default When/How to Inscribe Scroll

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I currently have a Rogue 2 / Wizard 3 / Ranger 2. Since I'm only Wizard 3, I only have access to Level 2 Spells. However, since I am level 7, I have a entire bank tab filled with Level 3 Wizard Spell Scrolls! I was waiting to level to Wiz 5 to inscribe them. However, I have seen multiple posts advising to inscribe them early, so you don't waste a spell selection with a scroll you already have.

My question is how do you know (before you level) which scrolls you've inscribed? It may be a while to get my character to Wiz 5, since I'm alternating classes to keep my rogue abilities up, and I'm afraid that I'll lose track of which I've inscribed, OR waste money inscribing EVERY scroll I find. As of now, I'm wasting my bank space, that I could be using for other stuff.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

It won't let you inscribe a spell more than once. If you try, you'll get a message that you already have that spell inscribed, and you don't lose your scroll or materials.

Well....you could always keep a list (offline) of which scrolls you've scribed

It's been a long time since I grew a caster to high enough level to worry about that part, but pretty sure it's a memory/note-taking process at this point.

A complete current spellbook would be a good thing to remind the devs we'd like to see.

when leveling I try to buy all the scrolls right after level. Whether you do it right away or not does not matter, but here is what to do.

Go to the person that sells the scrolls. The level 1 and 2 scroll sellers are in the bazaar, 3 in house P.

Open your stat sheet by pressing 'C' and then select the spell tab.
Click on the level of spells you want to buy. (in the case of level 3 spells, you would click the 'L3' tab)

There will be a list of spells you have in your book. With this open, talk to the vendor and see his/her list of spells. Since they are listed alphabetically, you can compare and just buy the ones you need.

The 4 and 5 level spells are with the same vendor in house J.
A good way to seperate them is to sort the vendors scrolls by 'value'. This should put most or all of the 4th level spells first and the 5th second (you can see the price jump).

Since this is not alphabetical, it takes a little more alertness to check your list.

AlSO.....when you level up and you can choose a spell or two, click on the lower level lists and see if anything is left for each level. In that case you can jot it down.

Go to DDO.com and look in the compendium for the full list of spells and see which ones you do not have after doing a level and buying the scrolls. Checking the compendium will show you the spells still left after buying them all since there are some that are not available at the vendors.

These you will have to ask around for as they seldom, if ever, drop in a chest. In fact I hardly ever see any symbols, dimension doors, firewalls, etc. ever dropping. Your best bet is to beg for them or to get a list prior to leveling and choose those spells as you level since you may NEVER find a scroll....ever...

I buy all the spells before leveling. That way the selection offered when I level are the spells not available at the vendors.
