Fans of Firefly/Serenity

Hey all,

Thanks to a good friend of mine, I am now a HUGE fan of Firefly and Serenity. Several others TRIED to convert me for over two years but in my stubbornness I resisted...I did have a lot of other stuff going on but I see now, that’s no excuse.

If you know the series/movie, then you know how great it is. If you don't you'd be doing yourself a GREAT service to go out and rent the series and watch them(then BUY the new Limited Edition Serenity DVD), watch the series first then the movie. If you are even a passing fan of SciFi...no truer words could be articulated...you will love it.

But, here is what I am asking...if anyone else is a fan(or soon to be), please follow this link and sign up at the forum:

Universal HD Forums for Firefly

The new Universal HD channel will be airing the entire series in the correct order starting in March. The hope is if enough people signup and show support they will make a sequel to the Serenity movie.

So, if you could take the time to signup and and maybe post a simple message in the Introduce Yourself thread(just to make sure your "vote" counts) it would be awesome.

link did not work for me but i looooooooooooved that series/movie! river is in the new sarah connor chronicles. oh, and the mechanic chic... *** was her name - it's just totally gone from my brain atm.... she's on startgate atlantis. there was so much to it that they never even got to. when they came back to the do the movie, all the actors were so into it so i'm sure if they do decide to do a sequel those involved elsewhere will find a way to return. the guy who plays Jane still had some of the clothes when they came back to do the movie, specifically that jacket, because he "borrowed" them from the set when they closed down the series. lol definitely worth watching if you haven't yet. oh, and fan support has worked for this series. it got the movie made and got the series reruns picked up by sci fi.

As much as I love the series I just don't see tem making a sequel. I was suprised they made the 1st one and it didn't do well in the theaters and money is sadly what makes to world go around. It's a shame firefly didn't air on a network like sci-fi or USA. Would have succeded there I think.

There was hope that if they special edition of Serenity sold well enough, they'd make a sequel.

You're gearing yourself up for a lost cause, I'm afraid. FOX nailed the coffin shut. The movie was just its last thumping cry of rebellion.

Agreed, they kind of wiped out 2 major characters. It wouldn't be the same if they did another movie or a new season. Whedon knew that he got lucky with Serenity, so he went all out.

Loved the series and the movie. However, it is highly subversive and thus will never be brought back into production. The show wasn't killed by the network. It was killed by the powers that be.

Hopefully I fixed the link...******, I hate MS Word almost as much as the Alliance.

There has been new speculation that interest in the latest HD release of the Firefly series on Universal's HD channel MIGHT be the "straw"...most folks feel we'll never see another series LIKE the original and the chance to see a Serenity 2 on the BIG screen is REALLY slim...BUT, there is a good chance we could get a direct to DVD release. I'd buy it...prolly 2 or three to help support it.

Bought three copies of the Limited edition BDM...and two copies of the BDS!

I think there is a decent shot at them reviving a 'spin-off' of the series but as Joss said in a Q&A, the time for the original series is gone. I don't care really what he does with it, as long as Joss Whedon is at the helm...its gonna be good.

As for the question what would a BDM #2 be? Whedon said he hoped to make a sequel and it would explore the Sheppard Book story in depth...so some flashbacks for sure AND more Wash
