So if I'm right so far, nothing useful can be done with gems, even the 1000gp or 5000gp/piece ones?

If you come into mod 6 with a bound item that already has permanent damage on it, does attuning this item remove the permanent damage?

Just posted at Massively.com as seen on front page from Quarion!
" I was given a bow and some power stones, I hit forge, and when the "mouth" on the window re-opened (the graphic effect is strange-- it literally "eats" your items), I had a bow with the Holy effect in my inventory. Later, they gave me another stone of power, I placed the Holy bow into the altar with it, and the a Chain Lightning effect was added to it. So you will be able to craft an item, and then recraft it to add more powers. The system isn't really a "crafting" system as its known in most MMOs, but it will provide some fun opportunities for players to hunt for reagents and hopefully put together some really powerful items. At the altar of Invasion was used Shavarath Transformation, with the following items
Shavarath Low Energy Cell, Shard of Power.
By reference what the author saids there was when given the holy effect (maybe too the positive effect)
At the altar of Subjugation was used Shavarath Transformation (and is shown on the text one failure too)
Shard of Great power, Shavarath Medium Energy cell.
And on the picture showns too the same bow with now the shocking burst effect & aspect of lightning.

Yeah, finally updated the signature so?
A little off topic but did anyone else notice in those screenshots that the bow was "Bind on Equip"
Also noted that ML of the bow did not change..still ML8 (Normal +5 Longbow) ...Redundant see post below....not a normal bow...
I wonder if the greensteel is an alternate material like adminatine/darkwoord/Mithral etc or an upgrade/change ? ??????????
UPdated recipies and ingredients based on Zorlintas post.

Hrmmm anyone notice the special secret actions by Tolero in the log
"Also shows +Tolero hugs the altar of invasion" is this a secret action required for the Positive Energy Affinity effect (ie Hug for positive energy)?
"Also shows +Tolero claps for the altar of subjugation" is this a secret action required for the Aspect of Lightning (ie Clap of thunder)?
"Cambo Laughs at Alter of invasion" (adds Aspect of Humor causing 1st level spell effect - Tasha's Hideous Laughter as per PnP D&D spell on hit)
LOL.......the more we look the more we see.....
Also just noted that the bow is listed as an ingredient - Ingredient type: Green Steel Weapon
...perhaps like a silver flame amulet...designed for upgrading but it is a random names loot
So much for adding holy to my greater undead bane weapons etc..........

This is much too complicated for anyone not already playing to get into it. Detail is good, tedium on top of complication not.
Incredient names and the like seem interesting but all the alters and the complete seperation of process between each area (basically teh new stuff has absolutely no connection whatsoever to the old stuff) is ridiculous.
Stuff we find all over the game should have some relevance in other areas. Like some way to trade items from different areas (besides player to player and auction house).
Yea its cool to pretend like we are actually wizards and whatnot spending 50+ hours a week learning about all these different compenents and agents to create super-powerful magical artifacts. But make it accessible to people that still ahve families (that they spend time with), jobs and other hobbies that involve physical exercise. I do want to play DDO, but not at the expense of anything else in my life.
Consider if it takes about 10 hours of play in the same type of instance to find enough of X to do Y then someone who only plays for an hour at a time has no motivation whatsoever to even play the game. Even if they play 1 hour over 10 days, then that means each day they log in to grind out at the same thing for the same stuff, often with no satisfaction. With nothing new or interesting to look forward to, what is the point of even logging in? Just recently got sick of reaver, which was my favorite quest cuz it only demanded 20 minutes of attention. With nothing else like this on the docket coming soon.... Whats in it for me? And I'm sure plenty of trolls will say good riddance to me, we don't need casual gamers anyway right? Well I just hope you guys ahve enough money to support these devs and tech support people for such a small niche game. I really just want all the great and interesting ideas that are the strength of this game to be less time demanding for casual players, and for more new players. Is that too much to ask? I'm sure Turbine would make more money in the long run by catering to a larger, although less avid fan base. Its not like people who play 40 hours a week pay any more than people playing 5 or so.
