    Welcome.

Id just take a gander at the various builds in this section. The Feats wont really mean much to you by name until you get to use them. For a first time through I would try to mimic one of the more basic builds here, after you get a feel for how the D&D 3.5 system works you can really go and design a character taylored to your playstyle or even perhaps tweak your original character. Lots of good builds throughout this forum though.

    Welcome aboard.

There seems to be a decent number of Aussies on Ghallanda and in general on most servers so you should be ok for playtime.

    Default Welcome!

Try anything that looks interesting to you.

Your first character should not be an attempt for an uber min/max build.

Play to get a flavor for the game. Chances are you will be re-rolling or creating an additional character before too long.

Especially as a cleric you will have no lack of groups wanting your services and all of the quests through the Harbor and Marketplace can e completed with any build.

Also, if you are starting a Cleric, just make sure you pay attention to the fact that a Cleric is so much more than a heal-bot in this game. Also, Khyber has a pretty large Aussie Guild, Stormreach Thieves Guild.

I just left WoW myself, although nowhere near your level. What finally sealed the deal was a PVP match, a alliance fighter vs a Orc warrior. Both had the same armor, same color, same two handed axe, same feats, same skills, same same same.....Being used to the customization in DDO, I just could never get into the "standards" in WoW.

In DDO, like PnP, just 1 or 2 points in a stat can make all the difference in a given situation, completely change the type of gameplay. And although I've seen similar builds, through enhancement system and magical items, they weren't really similar after all.

I also recommend the same, role a balanced character, get used to 3.5, see what works and what doesn't depending on the type of play style that suits you. Oh, important, not everything in PnP works the same in DDO, so if you plan on getting 3.5 Players Handbook and follow the rules, things are close, but different, just keep that in mind.

I've been part of DDO for....3 years....god has it been that long already......anyway, I've pretty much played Clerics exclusively. I'm not saying I'm an uber Cleric, no far from it. But as I learn, as I figure out what works and what doesn't and the type of gameplay that's fun for me, I find certain decisions or combinations of my character won't pan out the way I thought, so I re-roll, tweak what I want, and go from there.

All my characters are now on Ghallanda, all my toons have the same naming convention Big<enter something here>Boom. So BigBubbaBoom, BigBichaBoom, BigKillaBoom, etc... No one has hijacked that yet, which goes to show you the different type of players in DDO than WoW, a bit older, a bit more mature.

Welcome and feel free to look me up when online, if you choose Ghallanda that is...

Welcome, and best of luck! Ever so glad to see someone buck the evil yoke of WoW oppression.

Oh, and people *actually* RP here, too. Not universally, but there is a significant populace of RP'ers here.
    Oooh! Prayer Beads!
