    Default Paladin Love reading material

    Good Morning Developers,
    I just my hands on the Races of Eberron book and found something interesting on page 132. Warforged Paladin level substitutions. Now since actual substitutions are out of the question I thought this would make some interesting enhancement chains.

    - Smite Construct - Paladin level 1 - allows a warforged paladin to use his smite evil ability on constructs regardless of the construct's alignment.

    - Durable Will - Paladin level 2 - allows a warforged paladin to gain his CON bonus on will saves

    - Repair Damage - Paladin level 2 - allows a warforged paladin's LoH ability to repair using their CON score modifier rather than their CHA score modifier

    - Immunity to stunning - Paladin level 3 - pretty self explanitory
    Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    Very nice. I'd love to see this added.

    Some of these, (notably Durable Will) are balanced because they replace other abilities.

    Smite Evil --> Smite Construct
    Divine Grace --> Durable Will
    Repair Damage --> Lay on Hands
    Immunity to Fear --> Immunity to Stunning

    If you were going to make them "for free" enhancements, you really ought to make them a bit harder to get (i.e. higher levels).

    And I don't think Durable Will in addition to Divine Grace is a good idea. Maybe Con modifier instead of Cha modifier, but not both. I mean, heck, with that your Will save is base + Wis + Cha + Con. That's a silly number of modifiers.

    No, they all need to have an AP cost, thought it shouldn't be a very big one. I'm leaving that up to the devs to figure out a cost.

    In the RoE book they never said that it's a replacement for Divine Grace. It appears to be a way of offsetting having 2 weak ability scores being applied to a poor saving throw and having a naturally poor casting stat. Here in DDO land I think it would work better as a "Force of Personality" type feat.

    I'll double check my copy tonight but in both the Warforged Fighter and Warforged Paladin descriptions it spells out which abilities replace which abilities. ex. Immunity to Stun specifically states that it replaces divine health (even though it's a moot point.), Smite is actually referred to as Smite Evil, Construct. (expanding the functionality rather than replacing it.)

    OK, finally got the chance to read up on the minute details.

    - You don't have to take the substitution level on P&P

    Substitution level 1 - Enhances the Smite ability to include Constructs of any alignment. You don't lose anything.
    Substitution level 2 - Durable Will does replace Divine Grace and Repair Damage does replace Lay on Hands.
    Substitution level 3 - Warforged keeps the fear immunity/aura and replaces the redundant disease immunity for immunity to stun.

    nice suggestions. Several friends run wf paladins and I'd be happy that my mech was a better shield ....err I mean much improved team mate. Unbalancing? ....Not anymore than dwarves.

    Dev's please consider this. warforged dont have enough love when it comes to paladins. The advancefaith thing is nice but. This will make people want ti make warforged paladins.
    to be frank there arent enough pure warforged paladins. Can someone name 10 warforged paladins they know personally that have been capped on one server?
