    Default Game Error:

    Connection failed:
Cannot bind local socket. Is another client running?

Any ideas? And no, another client is not running of DDO.

first restart the computer, then check your network connection it sounds like there is an issue with it if its giving that particular error.

hmmm, on the surface, it sounds like the problem is that ddo can't open your local network connection to start communication with Turbine's servers. Presuming you're connected and everything is working fine there, you may have to adjust Windows Firewall (if you're using it) to allow traffic in/out for DDO. Most 'firmware' firewalls, such as are in routers, don't restrict outgoing traffic, but I suppose it's possible, so if you're not using Windows Firewall, your network connection is good, and everything else is ok, I'd check that.
Definitely verify everything's copacetic with your network adapter and DSL/cable connection first, then check your firewall settings. if you can browse the web, I'd take a look at the windows firewall service to make sure it's letting DDO connect. beyond that, things kind of turn into a shotgun mess of troubleshooting DirectX and .NET networking stuff...

having the same problem, put all the launcher files in the exception list for windows firewall and still having the same issue. Windows firewall is off, and still having the issue as well.

Can't Bind Local Socket is definitely firewall related:

Do you have any other security software installed or is your router configured correctly?
