    Default Cannot Login

I need help here, I am trying to return to the game I left back in March of 06' but I am having issues that I cannot seem to find any info on.

At first I could not upgrade my account which was very frustrating, but as it turns out the payment server was down Thank you Tolero for you assistance on that one.

Once that problem was solved I got to move on to my next one... I can now login and connect to the game but when I get to the choosing your server page says: All servers are closed with a red circle and a white "-" sign in the middle of it. after 3 re-installs and a stagering 18 hours of downloading the patches. Same thing each time. I am at the end of my rope here and about to quit before I can even get started.

This is what tech help told me:

Tech: Its a known issue and we are currently working on it.
Me: so there is nothing I can do to get the game working?
Me: it was working fine till I upgraded my membership then it stopped
Tech: You need to wait until the issue get resolved.
Me: how long ETA till it gets fixed?
Tech: You need to check the forums of the official website for Dungoens and Dragons Online.

Didn't really tell me to much there. Anyone have ANY ideas love to hear them.

Since it looks like you just posted it, they brought the game down from 11-1130. It should be back up in about 10-15 minutes

Ah, I just looked at the time it was posted. Didn't know it was a continual issue.

Forgot to mention I am not running Vesta I am running Win XP. One other thing I noticed is when I start the game it always says Version 0. is this normal?

Blah it would figure that I post a login issue at the same time I the servers are down. Now no one will ever see this post hehe.

After 3 more hours talking to tech support here is where I am at.

Sam: 1. Go to Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs and remove DDO.
Sam: 2. Defragment the hard drive completely to consolidate free space and run the scan disk(chkdsk) to check the hard drive for any virus.
Sam: 3. Disable the Window’s Firewall and the Anti virus that you are using.
Sam: 4. Try to install the game once again.
Sam: 5. Refresh the Window’s Firewall.
Sam: 6. Ensure that your firewall has dndclient.exe and dndlauncher.exe listed as exceptions, and enabled to access the internet from your computer. If they already are, you may need to refresh the firewall settings. Do this by removing both files from the
exceptions list, rebooting the computer, and re-adding both files to the exceptions list.
Sam: 7. Now try to launch the game.

We shall see how this goes.

Ok, hun... I don't mean to giggle... I just can't help it...

Number one, the game servers are experiencing some issues... we are all seeing red circles the last couple of days... sometimes we get in, sometimes we don't... they are working furiously to fix it...

Ok, the firewall thing is true... try it and let us know.

We are all sort of grumpy the last few days, do not despair.

    See you in Stormreach,

We shall see how this goes hopefully my postin all this will help someone with what I have been going though.

If you are still getting servers closed messages then its definitely a network setting relating to firewall, antivirus, operating system or a combination of all of the above, try doing a soft clean boot.

To do this please take the following steps:

    1. Click on start then go to "run"
    2. Type in msconfig and hit enter
    3. Go to the start up tab
    4. Disable all the tasks in that window (except systray if it is present, under xp though, it should not)
    5. Restart and try playing the game.
    6. If it works go back to msconfig and turn one of the start up tasks on ...
    7. Try playing again - repeat this process with each task until you find the one that is causing the game to stop connecting.
