mail system and trial accounts

I had a friend on a trial account test to see if he could send mail to me because I thought I was getting way to much mail from spammers using paid accounts.

Tolero, "We continue to work to eliminate unwanted in-game mailing and messaging related to the sale/purchase of in-game money/items. One such feature was to disallow in-game mail to be sent by trial accounts. However, we realize that this is not the only measure, and are working towards additional features."

Does Turbine really want to stop spam inside the game world or is it just talk to appease those that don't like it?

I hardly even make post regarding spam, but thought the community should know that Turbine still allows trial accounts to use the mail system after they said they didn't, this way those persons who want to scream, rant and rave about spam will have the facts to base it on.

I am deeply saddened by Turbine's misrepresentation of the state of ingame mail.

Well, im not going to go as far as to say anything negitive.
I was just wondering if they would please run some tests.

The best thing is that soon there will be a new mail system that will filter mail from unknown players.

BTW, will filtered mail trigger the "You have mail" Icon?

I did my own study...

I created a trial account, and successfully sent and received both mail messages (with attachments) and tells.
