    Default Paralyzed vs Held

I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this but here goes. Why is there a difference between the way paralyzed works for critical damage versus hold and critical damage? If a monster is "Held" you automatically get critical hits but if it is just "Paralyzed" you get your normal attacks. I am not sure that I see any difference between being held or paralyzed unless you get to blink your eyes on one and not the other.

Paralyzed (specificly from Paralyzing weapons) in DDO is actually the Dazed status; unable take full action, but maintains full AC.
