Default Static rewards! Revolutionary yet simple idea?

At first, I thought: Well, why don't you just set it to what it used to be. But as an option, put a selection in the UI menu to be able to turn the static rewards off, and have it rolled just like any other reward. But people might forget to turn back on when they want the static reward, and get angry with it. So, why not have an alert-type message, right before they get the end-reward, that asks if they want the static, or a normal roll?(alert-type as in being red outline, and a bold message, so that they know it and don't just click through it)

I honestly, don't have any problem with it.

    *Pros*
-People don't have to run a quest numerous times just to get one end reward.
-People have more time to run more quests.
    -People enjoy the game more.
-People can still run quest, and not have the same 'ol list of things they don't want.
-People can have fun doing a quest they like, and still get an end-reward they like.

    *Cons*
-People make more "DOOOOOOOOOOOM" posts(couldn't think of anything else...honestly)

my suggestion was for half the statics to show up each time with them alternating which half. THis way you know that if it doesn't show up the first time it will show up the second time. The rest of the list could be comprised of random items of approximate levels... I thought this was a very simple solution to the problem of Static rewards

I'm assuming your asking to randomize the small percentage of quests that have a static list as well as randomized treasures, such as deleras, waterworks, CO6, etc. but i really don't see the point in it. There are plenty of quests out there that are fun that don't have static rewards, and i don't personally see a need to alter the small percentage that do. Also, generally when people do hit those quests, there going for the static rewards themselves. And of course, these quests do have a small amount of randomly generated treasure, though it is often of higher "quality" than other quests for that level range and thus is often bound. Besides, the people that are running the quests for the fun of running the quests aren't as concerned with the end reward.

I prefer my suggestion (I know, crazy, right?) which was that on your first run through you should get the full list and any subsequent runs work exactly as they do now.

how about we combine our two ideas

first run full list all subsequent gets half rotating that way you can at least plan ahead without too much trouble and have access to everything twice in a normal hard elite power run

See, but one of the things I like about the new system (and one of the things that I think was the point of changing it; and granted one of the reasons I think post people don't like it) is that you can't count on getting all 7(/8/10/etc.) items you "need" from the Tangleroot/Delera's/Threnal list.

My solution shifts the system slightly to favor PCs by letting you count on getting at least one item from the list (meaning you can count on getting the Black Widow Bracers or the Golden Cartouche or your SpecOps), but it still prevents you from assuming that you can stat your character out entirely with loot from the static end reward lists (which was a problem under the old system, honestly).

Your solution, by contrast, shifts the system almost entirely back to the way it was. Sure you might have to run the chain as much as twice as many times, if the items you want are all on the same list, but it's just as likely (unless the devs plan it, in which case people would be complaining about how the devs planned it) that the items you want would be half on one list and half on the other, and then you haven't actually changed from the old system at all; you don't even have to run the chain any extra times.

but most of the complaints heard about the new system is having to run a quest 15 times just to get the item you want. If you have more than one item on hte list that you want you are pretty much screwed without a little luck. HOnestly I'd rather have people just get the items they want with the possibilities of other interesting items and go on to other quests so they can see the rest of the world instead of running TR 25+ times hitting level 7 and thus only running a very few number of the total content... and then whine that there isn't enough content for them and that they are just running the same quest over and over etc ad nauseum

The worry about cookie cutter builds is a thing of the past. I think filling out a character with static end rewards is not as prevalent as it used to be when cap was only 10. The list of "must have" static end rewards has dropped significantly. Either solution is better than the current system, though, I'd prefer a toggle button along the lines of the class/random end reward switch. Forgetting to switch the button might be annoying, but at least you can fix it the next time around and be assured your reward. Even if you are slow to learn from your mistakes it won't take a half dozen or more tries as sometimes happens under the current system.

Most folks that run the chain quests over and over again do so because they are better xp than most of the alternatives. The static loot is just gravy. Yeah, you *can* get screwed with luck, but its pretty rare that you have to run the quest more than a couple times to get a particular item. Its really only if you want multiple particular items that you have an issue with really large numbers of completions. And I don't see a compelling reason to change the mechanics specifically to make that easier, especially since reducing that was one of the two main reasons for changing it in the first place (the other being that the end reward remained relevant for those with the item or items they wanted).

I like Mystic Theurge's idea. With the increase in cap and loot levels, there are very few "must have" items anymore. There are several items that are nice, and a few of the random rewards are useful too, but most people can replace most of the static rewards in a couple of levels anyway.

Some of the items I can think of that are hard to replace are the Black Widow Bracers from WW. The Crimson Gemstone from TR. The Golden Cartouche from Delera's and the Spectacular Optics from Threnal. Co6 doesn't really have that many, as far as I can tell. The Mummified Bat is nice, but FF items are much more common now and the Scavenged Warplate is pretty well outclassed as well. From WW I like the Acrobat's Ring since it gives bonuses to jump, tumble, and striding. Any chance for a greater Acrobat's Ring? TR has some early stat items, but you can easily aquire something equal off the auction house. The Death Ward clicky also has it's use. Delera's has Serpentbranch and the Iron Manacles, both replaceable, but useful, especially at that level. Carnifex, Sparkstriker and Delera's Robe can also be good for some builds. Threnal has the Brass Beaver, Thanatos Weave, Retribution and the Rabbit Gloves which are useful for some charcters. The Trapblast google are the best item from STK, but they are made obsolete by resitance items and the Spectacular Optics. Other nice rewards are the Cloven Jaw Warbeads and Puzzle Cap, but the auction house can replace them, too. Catacombs has very few good rewards. The best of the bunch are probably the Blade of Inquisition and Marguerite's Neclace.

Ironically, the fix went in just as the static rewards were starting to be outclassed and the increase in the cap means that most people want to move onto bigger and better things rather than run these chaine over and over again like when the cap was level 10 and these quests gave loot comparable with the best in the game. I think that the changes caused these quests to be run more often because you can wait forever because the one item you want to drop, never does. My bard(now level 9) ran TR about 7 times loking for the Gemstone, he never found it. He's using a Pearl of Power III, which is the best mana trinket I've found. Both my 12th level Fighter/ Cleric and 10th level Wizard are using the Gemstone.

I think most peole have 1 or 2 items they really want, and a few others they would like. If every one got a full list the first time, I think there would be a lot less frustration. Once you get your one guarenteed pull, then you have to deal with luck if you want a second item. And if your luck is good, maybe you'll find a random item you like even better.

My recommended solution was to split all the "wanted" items as part of the end rewards of the less ran quests. Maybe then players will run those more then one time on elite. (and some of these quests are actually quite fun)

I wish it would recognize what you already have and not offer it to you again the 2nd, 3rd, etc. time that you run it. If you already have the Golden Cartoche it should not appear in your list.

Also, it should recognize your Race. There is no reason whatsoever for a Docent to appear in my list if I am a Fleshie and vice-versa for the WF players getting the full list of crappy named Leather armors.

All the static lists have one of each armor type, including docents, on them.

I know that, and back when you got the full list it was great. But since thats not the case anymore they shouldn't waste the precious few slots for the static items to appear on something you cannot wear due to Race.

Yeah, but if you notice, it's still replacing those items with random items of the same type. So every list has one of each type of armor, including docents, on it, even if they're not all static.

As i have recently run several characters up the static loot is just not that good, there are a few nice items out there but its like the lotto everyone wants to win the jackpot some do on their first ticket some buy 10's-100's and never do its just luck, and in Bruce Almighty when everyone one no-one was happy where would be the fun if you allwas get it. Wheres my static +5mp, my +5ghost touch disrupter of greater undead bane yaddayaddayadda.
