Default To be Male, or not to be...

    OK,

I know I will get an array of differ responses here but...

Why do guys play women in the game???

    Are you...

    1) A Woman trapped in a Man's body?
    2) Want to scam the lonely guys at thier computers to give ya stuff?
    3) Have a desire to stare at your toon with the armor off all night lookin at her backside?
    4) Enjoy Flirting with other dudes in the game cause you cant come out of the closet in RL?
    5) Have Secret fantasies about wearing Victoria Secret?

Personally I just dont get it... Do you all want to be Xena in another life or something?

(This can go for the women who play dudes as well if ya want to give some input)

Honestly I do it as a change of pace. You can only have so many builds or classes so I mix it up by making a female. I must say though I wonder why Turbine made the human female buttocks so big, geeze.

Personally I don't play any female characters, but if I did, my defense would be -

I would rather look at a female ass than a male.

But that wouldn't be a real reason, so as I said, I play no such things. Always found that odd, especially when they start saying 'I gotta get a +6 con item for her..' Umm..

    lmao

I thought I was the only one who kinda raised an eyebrow to some of the responses ya get in a group.

Especially when theres a female and they dont talk til near the end of a run and they sound like barry white

I rolled my first female character recently simply because the character had to be drow and I had a male drow already

Aerren is female because pigtails on a drow male would just be silly.

Being I play only Warforged... does my response matter in this thread?

If I do female or male on a character it is typically due to roleplaying reasons and it relates somewhat to their biography stories. For instance, my cleric Cowsoul is a female because she is a cow soul that got herself trapped in a Warforged. Would be kinda odd with a backstory like that to be a male Warforged when their gender is based on personality and role perception.

    i completely agree with Bamf

rather look at a drow elf's female body than a male drow waddling around :/ makes the game more interesting when you're bored

Add to that, if you're a RPer or lite RPer, some characters call to you to be played regardless of their gender...sorry, can't explain it any better than that.

It's a character...it's not me. It's not an extension of me. I'm not a Drow in real life nor a warforged either. I have 3 female toons, I picked em for various reasons - mainly just to mix it up and they look cooler (drow males look idiotic). My personal opinion is that if you care that some guy is playing a pixel female MMO character or even find it "odd", you are playing videogames far too much and probably spend too much time in that particular e-social setting. It's a fantasy videogame for crying out load...

I will make a few notes:

    - I just noticed it's only my casters that are female...my melee's are all male. Maybe that says something about my view on sexes /shrug
    - People are nicer to female toons, especially since I almost never use voice unless I have to lead

Beulla and Broofa - I just set out to make the ugliest toons possible....Dwarven Female was the way to go Anyone that has seen them will agree I am sure! And that was the birth of the Bawlbricker sisters.

I just don't know what to say on this subject.

Yes, male/female roles are different I suppose.

But back on subject, I do not make male characters. I am not male, therefore, I do not play male.

I keep hearing that everyone is nicer to Female Characters... I am not sure I believe it though since I spend many many hours a week with you all in Stormreach!

Of course we could just face the facts.

For me it harks back to my comic book days and story building which was renforced somewhat by playing CoH. In CoH I would have a concept and look that I wanted the character to have. if the toon was a girl with robot arms I had a story that went with it. the Same with the male toons I made. Even though I dont really do any of that now I still get the concepts going in my head.

Different prospective I did have a friend in CoH that only played female toons. His reasoning was that
    A. it was easier to get a group, because a lot of people would assume him a girl.
    B. teenboy who would just assume he was a girl without asking him would often give him things trying to buy his effection.
    C. he thought it was funny watching said teenboys fall over themselves flirting with him and he'd just ignore them

Who gives a **** its a game :P But in a serious note i dont get when someone says id rather look at a girl toon running then a man.Hmmm a little deprived in rl?Not sure but either way if someone wants to make a toon thats the opposite sex who cares? I never question it unless all their toons are the opposite sex then maybe theres a little question in my mind but one or two or even three toons of the opposite sex doesnt seem to be that weird. At least to me.

**Lessad sits at the end of the elongated bar in the Everfull Flaggon and drains tha last of his ale. Scratching his short, blonde hair he mentally runs down his "to do" list: Kill stuff, buy weapons to kill more stuff, sell the armor that is getting heavy in his pack, kill more stuff... He notices a most mysterious and elegant elven rogue at the other end of the bar. He takes a deep breath... perhaps with one more ale he will muster the courage to speak to her. He gets the bartender's attention and holds up two fingers.***

"Two lad?" The stout bartender asks confused. "Ye can only drink one at a time...."

**Lessad glances again at the beautiful and mysterious rogue, guaging the amount of courage he'll need***
"Make it three," he says firmly, and takes a deep breath.

"All for you?" says a voice over Lessad's shoulder. It's the rogue, having taken the five or so strides from her side of the bar during your discussion with the 'tender. She smiles as she slides the yellowing leaves of parchment in her hands back into the scroll case at her belt.

Well I'm female so have a different perspective, but since I've queried a lot of males in game about this (for the same reason you started this thread - curiousity), the most popular response I've gotten was...they didn't want to stare at a man's butt the entire time they were playing.
