    Default Changes? Reasons?

We (11 of us) came over from Never Winter nights in the past 4 months, and we are now down to 2 and an occasional 3(all the others have cancelled their accounts, bad for ddo and most importantly bad for us. The reasons were not price. We are about to leave as well and just wanted to know a few things as to why? or possible changes. Buffs, why do player buffs have to be gone every time an instance starts(*some times mid quest when the quest advances) house buffs stay? resting should be available more, maps should be better detail so you can see where you have been(actual paths that you can walk not just direction) actual DMs would be outstanding, or at least dms that know the game and can answer an occasional game formula question, We would love to see more rp, but it seems at least an effort was made for this(thurs nights) but maybe there is a place that none of us know about. There are Many more issues but just a few of these could not only keep me but bring my friends back as well.

I usually assume that when you change an instance you are travelling a long distance. From von3 pre-instance thru the cave down a long cave tunnel and into the mouth of the cave leading into mai part of von 3.

    But its just programing really.

If thats the main reason making you conscider leaving then you are just not having fun.

If you were having fun you would ignore the "little things" and just play.

People leave for different reasons and when it time...its just time to go.

Hopefully you find a reason to stay but no DEV can give you that reason.

no item, race, crafting or quest will make you stay........................

You just have to start having fun again.

    suggestion = 1. Change servers 2. roll a new character from level 1 3.take a break

have fun in whatever you choose to do. oh yeah......can I have your stuff ......sorry had to be said

Can I have your... oh wait I don't have room for it...

Just play to enjoy the group time. Joke. Laugh. Converse during fights. Of course, if you can't walk and chew gum at the same time like a lot of us can, I advise you try a slower pace, or a game that moves at a slower pace.

I keep coming for various reasons... Stress relief by killing things... group counsel and good old guffawing at crude humor... character development... whatever. I don't particularly enjoy RP all the time but every now and then... maybe once a month, I'll RP for about 2-5 minutes total. This is not an RP game(typically... things just happen TOO FAST to rp!). If you want RP start up a pen and paper online group. If you want oldschool use Webcams and real dice.

Or... you could start practicing to be an actor and "become your character" every time you log in, producing a sort of secondary personality... which could lead to Multiple Personality Disorder.. but hey, you'd be RPing.

As for buffs, only house p or j buffs will stick full timer until dead or disspelled...

The reason why buffs don't stay when you enter an instance is simple...

It would lead to massive abuse. Groups would bring in their uber casters and buff the heck out of everyone (think lower level groups with 30 point resists, 25+ SR, etc, 25 minutes of blur, etc.)

... or the person with the level 14 Warchanter handing out one massively amazing boost to your damage and to-hit in a couple songs.

Come play with us on Sarlona. We'll show you a good time.

Seriously, it sounds like you are more annoyed by the difficulty than anything else... Why do buffs reset? Because quests are individual challenges that need to be started equally... You pop out, get full mana at a tavern, and then spend some (your choice how much... This is a strategy choice) of that mana to rebuff when you begin another quest. (Or in the case of some quests like Tangleroot, you conserve your last shrine so you can use it right before going into the next part.)

Why not more rest shrines? Because that would make it easier. And, believe me, this game may seem difficult at first but you will quickly start thinking it is easy. No need to make it even easier. Also, there is some game balance involved. More shrines would mean casters would be even more powerful. No one would ever play a fighter then.

There is something for everyone. You will find that different quests have different amount of shrines, etc... The "Tempest Spine" raid for example... It has a new shrine every 30 seconds toward the end of it. "Proof is in the Poison" on the other hand... You pretty much are going to run out of mana no matter what you do. If you find one type more fun than another, stick to the fun ones.

Anyway, this game is prety much the merger of "Doom 3" and "Neverwinter Nights". It might be that you just don't like Doom 3. Hope you get the hang of it and start liking it. If not, best of luck to you in whatever else you move on to.

Well, the reason, IMHO is.....the game is not for everyone. It is much harder than most MMO's I have played, and has a much more active combat system, with very few meaningful role play possiblities.

That being said, I like it better than the other MMO's I have played.
