Cant open data files

I have a problem and I cant figure out even doing multiple searches on the net.

Ill start by saying that I did a complete system wipe to give windows Vista a try, again.

I had a problem after I did all the updates for Vista, Drivers and I installed and patched DDO.

I would then try to log in to sarlona and I received this error " Cant open the data files.

Check that they exist and that you have permission to write to them. The program will no exit (201)."



I treied various fixes and nothing seemed to work. So I scraped Vista again and I reinstalled WinXP and now Im still recieving the same error.

I tried to remove the read only box on all my files and folders but nothing works and they stay read only. I went to safe mode and logged on as Admin to give everybody, user, ect.... Full control and that did not work.

I not sure what else to try.


I would post a dxdiag but I dont think that would be of help.

Well, I still could not figure out why I was geting the error on Vista and Xp. But I fixed the problem by not using my 4 Cd's and I downloaded the game from the forums and I was able to log-in with no problems.

I wonder if one of the data files had a CRC error in them that was preventing it from loading correctly. Glad you got it working again.
