Original post seems to have been edited or deleted, is this regarding the Winter Gala on the 8th of December? I really wanted to attend that! I hope the dev's didn't give you guys too much trouble for this!

First off Vizzini no this was not about the Winter Gala which went off with out issue. This was about the best Dressed Dwarf event a week later.
Second off I was not able to attend this event but news of this is disturbing. I am a member of MAC and we just held our own event (Khyber Winter Gala) in House P. I will try and find out the facts (feel free to pm me with them) but I will list the things we did during and before our event.
• We advertised in the forums in several areas
• The event was listed in the event calendar
• We used the LFM the day of and days before the event
• Several people used player notes in the Who tab to advertise the event
• We used general chat exclusively with 70-100 people in attendance (except for trivia answers)
• We used multi colored text through out the event
• Emotes were used frequently the entire time
• I advertised our event sponsor several times in general chat
• Many, many items were given away during the event
That is what I can think of at the moment. Khyber has been a place of few player run events in the past until recently. On the day of our event there was another player run event happening. The week before there was one and then this event a week later, plus the mention of several events in the planning. Player run events do give a since of community, helps players to get to know one another on your server and just makes the server much more fun and active. So with recent development why would anyone want to go out of their way, use their personal time and in and out of game resources to plan an event? This is a community we play in. We interact with each other, talk, joke, emote, etc… When a large group of people comes together for an event all of the talking and everything else is going to increase. Think of a carnival or circus atmosphere, there are people “spamming” their attractions or announcing the upcoming event. A player run event is the same thing and it provides a fun, festive time for those who attend.
If these events are not to your liking they are by all means not mandatory! If you do not like them avoid them. If there is something in the area you need to get to no one in the event is going to hinder your progress and if there are enough people there a second instance will be opened and you can have a free run of the entire area. During our event I noticed very little increase in lag, even going in and out of the area.
So if someone running an event that is not of out of line gets some kind of punishment is uncalled for and beyond me. We should be able to use (and not abuse) the options we have available to advertise our event (forums, LFM, player notes, general chat). If some kind of calcification isn’t publicly made known I think this will cause or increase the rift between the player base and Turbine. So the ball is in your court now Turbine. I’ve supported you in the past and your decision/action on this matter could affect that support. I will wrap it up here /rant off.

I'd like to personally thank the server for all of your support. Hopefully this incident will get Turbine to get on the ball and put a set of guidelines in place. All the guilds and Qwijy we thank you.
Is it too late to report Quarion for all that General Chat spam at the town hall meeting?
Is it too late to report Turbine for all of those really annoying world-wide tells announcing the stupid emerald claw conspiracy yabble?
Can we report the gravestones that spam general chat when anyone reads them? What about all the NPCs that do the same?
thanks all for the support, our guild apreciates it and if a clear guideline comes of this for player run events then it will not have been all bad. Thanks again for the support and not degrading the post to the point where it needs to be closed.

Much love and deep thanks to all the family and friends who stepped up to this. The in-game GM's who stepped down hurt my heart but seeing the community raise their fist made it twice as strong. I was pleased to see Tolero and Qarion voicing their stance on the situation, and furthermore I'm glad that the original thread wasn't deleted. That's a few steps in the right direction. Hopefully we'll hear that Soilent has received a token of good will to counteract the attack, and with a bit of good fortune we'll be able to use this problem to improve such things for our futures.

We'll be hearing more about this. Hopefully it'll be positive.
The best case scenario? We'd get a separate chat channel for in-game events.
Decent case scenario? The in-game GMs will be instructed to view the forum calendar to be aware of upcoming events and will KNOW better to investigate claims of spamming (or whatever) concerning the events.
Worst case scenario? Nothing is done and we risk another incident like this and/or player events stop all together because of it.
I had considered contacting Sparker or at least starting a thread in the In-Game Customer Service forum to ask for clarification about player events, but I didn't want to appear to be stirring up trouble and gain my first infraction points. ~sigh~

does anyone know what really happened
i have heard rumors that people get banned just for the reason that someone is calling gm and they dont consider much except the reason they were called there in the first place
was there grounds for ban or wasnt there
i have been banned a few times and for each time i actualy did break rule that was punioshable by ban
but never because someone just reported them
i would love to know the actual grounds for ban can i see a screen shot or something like that maybe paste of an email or what not?
Soilent got banned for "spamming general chat" during an ingame event

Please keep us informed of how this turns out.
Jesus saves but only Buddha makes incremental backups.
Even though I come from the anti event server Argonesson, I gotta say that this is a little ridiculous, as the event was vetted by turbine and postedi n the calendar, also the player was given no warning to stop, just an email detailing his ban. Tolero and Quarion may not control the GM's but they gave us all this speil about how they wanted t support player lead events, well its time to put your money where your mouth is Turbine , as this is a perect example of the marketing team colliding with the service team.
