    Default Protest! a sad day

The dwarven defenders hosted a player event this past saturday evening, which had been advertised on the forums here for quite some time. I logged in this afternoon to some disheartening news. Soilent, kingzero here o the forums, was given a Four Day ban for 'spamming general chat in house P' as he was Hosting The Player Event.

I believe the dev's owe this man an apology, written and much heartfelt here in the forums. and a month of free service, At Least. This is a tragic turn of things, and a sad day for the game. Poor form, poor show. Sad news.

Surely the GMs would of listened to his plea and the chat message before giving the infractions.. Was someone not interested complaining, and he refused to stop? In a case where he was asked to stop and he continued, then he may have deserved the points, even if he had posted it and it was a open comunity event.. Lord knows sometimes when a GM hosted event goes live and I'm spamed with red GM text in the middle of a quest or involved discussion with someone else, I'd like to ban them.. Anyway exspect this thread to get deleted cause its talking about disiplinary actions.. Keep in mind I'm not defending anyones positions or actions just adding speculation as to what could of happened..

We finished the event without incident or complaint, other than one person sending a tell that we shouldn't have the event listed in the LFM. This morning he has an email telling him he's banned for spamming general chat.

    Sad days.

I support this protest. Bad form Turbine.

Thought it was great there was more than 1 instance in a House for a change - and run by the players!

Is not the "grouping" tab under the "social" for looking for more people? If you ask me, an LFM is the perfect place for something like this because some times you are looking for more people to join in the event.

    Default Bring Soilent Back!

Hello all, I know that I do not typically post in the forums but reading what I just read I cannot stay silent. An event, that was placed in DDO's forum calendar - therefore giving the Dwarven Defenders approval for the player held event - was horribly screwed with by the GM's of DDO Godhood. This is just another example of politics getting in the way of progress, making the future of DDO less certain as time goes by. Dedicated players like Soilent, the host of the event, should not have been punished for trying to make the game more enjoyable for its players.

I propose that we all get together one day and all of us spam general chat in House P. In different colors shouting nothing but our support for Soilent. They can't ban us all without losing their business!

I am a long standing oficer in "The Trinity" guild and as such I plan to take this up with our guild leaders and officers for discussion. Several members of our guilds (Holly Warriors, Devoted Acolytes, and Divine Calling) have good respectable friendships with the Dwarven Defenders. The Trinity has also hosted several open world and guild events in different areas of Stormreach without an incident like this occuring.

I know the Devs will not; by policy, discuss the details of a particular ban in these forums with the community at large. HOWEVER, this incident brought upon this scheduled event begs the question of "Why should guilds continue these events when threatened with a ban?" While DDO/Turbine does not sponsor these events or takes part in their organization there has to be some type of guidance from them if these things are going to continue.

Last time I looked Turbine was "encouraged and enjoyed" the fact that the guilds set up these events; this BAN appears to fly into the face o...and contridict...those previous statements.

So to Turbine/Devs; I ask the following!

    1. IF you wish for this level of participation to continue either put some guidelines in place; establish another chat channel for events, or flat out state these events are no longer desired and they are punishable by being banned.

    2. I ask that DEVS look into this incident further and evaluate the response from the GM; evaluate whether the activity in question was REALLY deserving of a ban or did you have a GM go off the deep end? Do your GM's even look at the forum calendars to know what scheduled events are on-going?! And re-evaluate how to prevent this kind of injustice--whether real or perceived--can be prevented in the future.

    3. IF you find that an injustice has indeed occured then make ammends for this to kingzero aka Soilent; as it is the right and just thing to do!

    Edit: to fix typos.

I will put the feelers out but I please ask that you all contact us privately, and not discuss discipline on the forums

I just wanted to let everyone know that we've gotten many PM's and inquiries about this incident and we've forwarded the issue to our Customer Service department.

Unfortunately, our forum team here is completely separate from the in-game customer service department, and we cannot investigate, nor comment on action taken by that department.

That being said, we will be looking into the question of what the policy on using general chat for events may be, and will report later.

As far as the gentleman in question, please have the user write to TurbineSupportExperience@turbine.com for further assistance.
