Well, I would like to see some more love for rogues than the "trap monkey" treatment they have been getting lately.

If you truly want "scouts" in a real-time game environment (outside of any rules), sneak should be a lot faster (I know, I know, it is not realistic) and it should scale much faster . You could then give rangers a compromise portion as the OP suggested.

Eh. If you can sneak through leaves you can sneak on a street.

This enhancement is like Fighter/Paladin/Barbarian Toughness. It's two classes that share a common skillset. Now if you really wanted a rogue enhancement for stealth you want to petition the devs for "Way of the Shadowdancer".

So, my question to this statement is Why? In all settings (e.g., indoors and outdoors)? What about ability scores? Race?

It seems to me that there are a number of factors which should affect your "sneak" skill regardless of your class. It does not seem that "class" alone should determine how fast you sneak.
TM - Go check out the skills section of the D20 SRD it will explain how the Hide/Move Silently skills work in D&D 3.5.

Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

when i was told people were arguing about this change, i honestly didn't believe it...

hell, Eladrin even agreed to a situation where rangers get a WEAKER verson of sneak speed enhancements than rogues.
end result = rogues still win at sneak speed.

Guess i've been missing all those "need rogue with fast sneak!" LFMs. I suppose this would totally destroy a rogue's place in a group, while making rangers the new uber power.

The only real change is that maybe (just maybe) more people would actually USE sneak in a full party. Then maybe (just maybe) more people would actually give you the time to use it in something other than solo/duo.

Sure, for 20secs 5/day, a ranger can keep up...

if you want to say that a 20sec speed boost of up to 50% speed is the equivalent of a permanent 50% boost, you have fun with that.

If you want to keep pretending that rogues actually sneak in DDO, or that in D&D they somehow have an advantage at sneaking, more power to you.

My Rogue sneaks in almost every quest. In fact, most of the party does.
