Default a lot of those drow rogues are getting squished

i think the stats on a rogue should be balanced

but, the more hitpoints that a rogue has the better IMO

i tried them all, i.e., races, & my dwarven rogue is my best yet, very survivable with 185 hitpoints at level 10

Use all your great points for something else and free your self from using resources to be a trap monkey.

I've thought about a maxed Cha rogue....highest UMD I can get....and using other Cha stats. Intimidate, Diplomacy, Haggle...

An all dex TWF is an ovious choice. Max out that neak attack and get puncturing rapiers....or something similar.

Max out tumbling and actually try to find creative ways to use is.

I don't see the point of high strength or HP rogues.....

A rogues strengths are his skill points, evasion, and sneak attacks.
He should use light armor or no armor.....so he should have a high dex.
I believe the way to max our sneak attack damage is to max the number of crits you can do......so shoose weapons and feats to get the most crits.
Many special purpose weapons depend on crits, so try to aquire them to maximise this strength.

The rest is choose some skills to max out and put into heavy use......

I think that's all you can do with a pure rogue.....you can multi class with a lot of different classes, but then i would argue you are no longer a rogue after a certain point.

I Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your math is quite a bit off here due to Cross class Skills.

Lets say you Max 11 of those out at L1 Rogue....

See my Modified Chart below.... Youc an get Creative with some of the Skills that are shared across Ranger and Rogue like SPot and Search.. Butyou already said your not all that into Spot..... So your going to havbe to spenk 2 Skill Points per level Somewhere.... ANd often....

Human +1 at each level, +4 at creation.
14 int = 40 points at creation for rogue.
    1 rogue at creation = 44
    7 levels of rogue = 77 points
    6 levels of ranger = 45 points
    ----------
    166 skill points

The following is a list of what you need after your L1 Rogue Level.
    Bluff 13
    Diplomacy 13
    Intimidate 13
    Open Lock 13
    Disable Device 13
    Search 13
    Use magic device 13
    ---------
    91

All the ABove are Class Skills for Rogue But Not for Ranger. Each Rank is going to cost you 2 Skill Points while a Ranger making the toal needed poits as high as 133 Skill Points to max those 7 Skills alone. and thats AFTER you spent the 44 Points at L1 Rogue. Your Laready Over the Limit Significantly.

    considerable points to
Haggle 6 (really i have a bard for crazy haggling, no need to go nuts here)
Spot 11 (mostly for monsters, i know where the traps are for the most part )
    -------
    17

    with minor points in
balance 2 (mainly so i can be over 5 in TF)(Didnt max this at l1 cause you only took 2 ranks)
tumble 1 (for small drops with no ff on)
Move silently 1 (because hide can be bolstered by invisibility clicky)
    -----------
    4

    166 total skill points

Cha modifier will be +3 with items, less than stellar, but the price you pay for strength and hp's.

yeah, after running through the character creator this is true. Fortunately i hate the timer thing on bluff and diplo is sort of expendable.

    Default extra note

I have no character slots left on khyber unless i delete my mule (fat chance), so are there any guilds on a server other than khyber looking to help out a "newbie" and let him join in on their fun occasionally? I believe the only other server i have a character on is Argonessen and he's like level 2

    lol
I created one right after writing my post on this topic.
But I used a second account so he's only a 28pt toon....had problems getting the scores I wanted.....
I made his last name CantDoTrapsOrLocks.......but i think I'll just solo him for awhile until he is good enough to actually fight and try to prove himself........might reroll him as a straight dex toon though.....tried to give him some Char and Int....but I might give up on UMD and just see if I can make an all dex swachbuckler type.

Yeah....social stigma is why I don't make a lot of classes.......battle clerics and some wierd multi classes combos.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

I would try a Rogue/Wizard build with a major emphasis on Displacement/Stoneskin tanking. You can use your Wizard feat on Quicken spell for non-interruption in-combat. Not a ton of HP, but I think it can be done.

    Something like:

    str 12
    dex 16 +3 lvls +3 enh +6 item +2 tome = 30 dex (+10 and robe-capable)
    con 16
    int 14
    wis 8
    cha 10

one level up @ 15 is open, so if you score a +3 dex tome....

feats... human so you'd get seven by 16. You need Wiz7 to cast Stoneskin and Displacement, so you end up at 9rog/7wiz by 16.

    1: TWF, Toughness
    2: Extend (Wiz)
    3: Weapon Finesse
    6: SF: UMD
    9: Toughness
    12: ITWF
    15: IC: Piercing

Etc. I still think Dwarf is better for this idea -- lose one Toughness feat, but you get access to Dwarven Toughness enhancements.

But human can be solid with HV boosts.

I should note that i'd like to try and combine major aspects of my previous 3 (pure rogue, rogue twf with 1 fighter splash, and intimitank rogue with 2 levels of pally, 2 levels of fighter).

I believe human will be my race of choice, so get your gears turning people, i want ideas!

    Default heh

Funny that this thread got raised from the dead today - i was just thinking about rolling a dwarven wiz / rogue mix that specialized in stealth and instakills (i pulled +6 int rr dwarf goggles and a really weird d -axe that had necro and illusion focus on it today). I haven't played with the character creator or anything yet, but off the top of my head, 13 wiz/3 rogue or something to that effect.
