I would like to point out that a rogue is a jack of all trades like the Bard also. With his/her UMD they can pretend to be casters by using scrolls, wands and most race restricted weapons and items. That said, I see alot of class specific items for the rogue and not for the Bard. This falls in line with what Dane is stating.

No, but they would make bard like items to make them better bards =). And then mooch all your magic items.

Not really. UMD allows you to use spell completion and spell trigger items, but you're still not a spellcaster, while the bard is.
