Unhappy download from disc too slooooow...froze too

I am trying to download the game directly from the disc but it was going very slow and it was on the last thing. It went for a bit but then it froze comleately when it was about 4% done. Is this a problem with the internet, we have dial up, or is it something that has to do with the computers memory. I really look foreword to playing, but I just cant get it to download. If anyone knows the answer, please help me out.

The problem is with dialup. Recommended Network Specfication for the game is Cable Modem or DSL (but even then it will take 2-3 hours to patch from retail disc).

You can try downloading the most recent version of the game client here. It will probably be a shorter overall download because it's compressed files versus patching individual files.

112 hours, 20 minutes, and 52 sec. for the game, and probally another 112 hours for the updates needed to play. The result does not take into account any connection overheads or slowness caused by internet traffic - Add another 10 to 25% to the time shown and you may be somewhere near. N.B. It'll never be quicker than this! as taken from http://www.cdlt.ucsm.ac.uk/Blackboar...alculator.html

Boy i hope you dont have to call anybody

Are you trying to install it from the game disk, is that what you mean?

And yes, even if you install it with the game disk, you will still have to update it via the internet, though the link Mad gave above should help.

My recommendation is to take your computer to a friend's house with broadband and download it that way

But seriously, the game will be very frustrating if you try to play it with a dial-up connection. Really any online game will be frustrating.

This is so true. I played both EQ2 and WoW on dial up for about a week and both were almost unplayable, except when far away from other players... goodness help you in the big cities, you almost certainly got disconnected.

I have a brand new copy of DDO right now and with what I assume is about 1 GB worth of game updates I'm just about finished in just over 4 hours of downloading. On dial-up that would prolly be about 40 hours lol...
