    Default Characters with style

I would like to hear from the players out there who design and play their toons based on an idea. Not just the mathmatics of the game.

I play a Samuri warrior very loosely based on Kensi from Heros the tv show.

He has bad AC (splint mail armor)
Good but not great str all of his other stats are average with a chr of 9.

I work on his tactics in combat and depend greatly on the cleric in the party to act as my regeneration.

Just want to hear about your toons.

    Default Characters with Style...

Deryck: Fighter (Level 4) He is based on a Pen and Paper Character.

Deryck fought in Clan wars with the Dwarves and was almost killed.
He came away with a scar accross his one Eye that almost Blinded him.
He had looted a ring of regeration (D&D Vers 1.0 [Type that holds you at -9])
Though his eye sight had been restored a companion (not knowing any better)
Hit him with what he had THOUGHT was a healing Balm called "Kegotrohms Ointment"
I reality it was a healing Salve known as "Orc Balm" This does heal, But:...
It ALSO does 1d6 BURN DMG! Thus forever leaving deryck
with a Hideous Scar across his face.

Deryck is very strong, but his Charisma is Hideous ( Cha 8)
I told the story of his Battle beside the Dwarves in Ghoste's Thread

I'm gonna keep my new barb in Hide armor since his AC sucks anyway and no shield. Because you just look so freakin bad-ass with an Owlbear head on your chest and bearclaw fuzzy slippers. I will at least try to find the skin on a +5 Hide.

Most all of my characters are based on an Idea,
I do not do the "I want an Uber Character" thing.

    Peniafrancia:
She is a Pen and Paper Character who was tuned to Stone-
    "FOR 75 YEARS!"
Stats: Based on what I actually rolled for her in Pen and Paper.

    Grismil:
Was a warforged Fighter from Pen and Paper.
Wound up working as a guard for the Silver Flame
when the Party found him. His Bio too is posted with Ghoste.

    Bekki:
He is based on a Dwarven Paladin I played in Pen and Paper.

On his Last adventure he brought about a renewal
of a peace treaty between Elves and Dwarves...
Since I was New to DDO; I rolled him as a Fighter.

Loderick and Sildehwen are based on being related to
    Some of my other characters.

I try to create them to a theme, rather than min/ max.
It seems more fun that way.

    Charm the Bard/Fighter.

I wanted her to be like that guy in the war movies who plays the guitar in the trenches right before they get attacked.

The basic idea is that she was a musician by trade until the war (level 1 bard). She ended up fighting in the war (2 levels of fighter for 2nd and 3rd) and then after she went back to music but crafted it to assist her and her allies in combat as she'd learned to in combat.

    Default archer paladin

i have had this idea, and botched it, before. this time i think im getting the best of both worlds in that my idea and story are flowing together with the mathematics.

she will be a drow paladin with a longbow focus. starting off in xendrik as a fighter simply b/c of necessity for the drow people in this area. she learned ranger skills, but as her sense of injustices against the drow grew she became a paladin.

havent hit the paladin levels yet, but they are next and im pretty excited.

My 14 barb wears this very armour. Best I can find is like +2 fearsome of axeblock and hammerblock. Thing with hide armour is
only some of it has the owlbear look, the other type is just hairy...so buying off the AH is hit n miss.

Does look very good tho. Only ever saw one other barb wearing it and she was low level.

Style, my barbarian has tons of it...he just looks badass.

I want to make a Turok build. Mostly Ranger with some Fighter and Rogue thrown in. Favored enemies of reptile, dragons, and evil outsiders if he has enough levels in ranger.

I have a Warforged (currently) 12/2/1 Rogue/Ranger/Fighter that uses two Rapiers, not exactly the most mathmatically min/maxxed build

well I was trying to make a WF wiz... and trying to think of names I looked over at my book shelf and saw unearthed arcana, and figured it be a good name for a WF wiz. found at an escavation site and repaired, doesn;t remember anythign from before being repaired.

got a rogue based on a rogue I've been playing for years, a drow rogue, cept this time I made it male, changed the name from calia to calio. rogue that likes to fight close ranged with a bow... have adapted it to best suit ranged weapons. in PNP he used covered hand crossbows dual weiled, kept a few loaded hanging at his belt so he could get off a few shots quickly before he ended up in melee combat. in NWN it was a longbow, here its a repeater.

if they ever release half orcs and I find a RP group I'm going to recreat mack... one of my favorite chars from PNP. strong as a bull and not much smarter... if something he was fighting with made him mad(normaly all it took was landing a hit on him) he would drop his great axe and pummel the guy with his fists. he also had a habbit of throwing his great axe at things that made him mad and were too far to pummel with his fists. the rogue friend of his ended up talking a wizard into making a returning greataxe for him. this was after he lost 3 great axes by throwing them off the boat at things flying around and annoying him

My fighter has the FUGLIEST set of full plate around .. so, I found the ugliest intimidate helmet to go with it (its round with a flat top and a horn sticking out of the top!) .. I've pulled other sets of +5 MFP, but none were quite as hideous as his lime-green set so they were all given to guildies with more fashion sense.

The armor/hat combo has the side effect of guaranteeing me timely barkskin/stoneskin reloads inquest

My latest character is based off the classic 16th century swashbuckler. I'll be leveling him as a Thief-Acrobat 15/fighter1 with an emphasis on flashy combat. He'll primarily be using a rapier and buckler combo. I roleplayed him a bit last night and I find this character really easy to get into.

I almost with I had something positive to add to this thread, but I don't RP. However I do have this:

My monk *yet to be rolled on the live servers* come's from Shaolin (in NYC not China). His name is OlDirtyB AKA Big Baby Jesus
and he doesn't play around. Thank the devs for corn rows because he wouldn't exist w/o them. His goal is to annihilate all other
pimps and slingas on the block, while maintaining his cool and rockin chuchas. You may also call him Osiris, but only if you are willing
to yell "Hooooo, dee hayyyyyyy, de haaaaaaaahhhhh" when he enters a pary.

MOST of my builds are Style-based.

Graywalker - my Ranger13/Rogue3 - Is pretty good at a lot of things. Mostly his forte' is sneaking in, getting the job done and sneaking out. Unfortunately, not so doable in DDO as sneaking/hiding is so bloody broken. He prefers to range and likes the cold... (Hence the Greensteel bow Shock, Icy Burst, going to be Good Blast or Shocking blast with Freezing Ice if I can muster up dual shard grinding).

Hawksfire - His magic can heal, but he prefers to destroy! (Cleric 16). He is a caster cleric, not so big on the melee, but throwing spells and wreaking havoc is easily accomplished. (He did solo to the end of Tharask Arena last night with almost no sp, blackheart and his bloody Irresistable Dance gave him problems though)

Batsran - A Drow with the name of an angel, but throws fire like he is from somewhere else. Sorcerer who is very proud of being the heir of a Dragon's power. Mostly silent and deadly with a quick spell.

Tweek - A.D.D. at it's finest. Not very bright, but he can fight. "What you want Tweek kill now?" Jumpy and spastic like he has just been 'tweeking' a few lines.

Oldemann - He has been called an old man most of his life, and he is still rather young, but he reads his books, studies his magic and tries to do a little good here and there.

Skeratch Brasher - A Dwarf without a beard - or hair. A "tough-guy" thug with some smarts. He was a bandit, charging tolls for protection on "his" road... and occasionally just bashing up the whole wagon train for the loot. He is after gold and loot and adventure. Doing a little good on the way is a happy accident. He ain't pretty but... well, he ain't pretty.
It is not about the destination, it is about the journey.

My mod 3 ranger. rng13/1wiz/2fig. Halfling with maximize, empower healing and the full dragonmark line. he can hit full heals for 486. Just wanted to see how the dragon marks would do stacked with the ranger devotion line. He was alot of fun to lvl, but i recently dropped some of the healing to qualify him for tempest.

My most character based character is Sweenee Todd, based on the demon barber of course. Dual wielding kukris, 14rogue/2fighter. He does pretty good damage, but tends to get cut down once he gets aggro... oops...

I come to DDO with a PnP role-playing background.

All of the characters I have kept through the drought period of DDO level ing (9-12) have survived that time because I enjoyed playing them and seeing them develop, more than their mathematical superiority.

Most people will tell you the character build means just as much as the player who runs it, and I agree. if the Player is not into playing said character, the character will fail.

So.......Shaamis, my dwarven monk, is not min-maxed, doesnt have the best equipmet or stats, BUT, he is by far my favorite character, because of his background, role-playing flavor, and sheer fun I have playing him.

Good to see others have the same desire to have fun for the character aspect, as opposed to the "gotta win" aspect of DDO.

    The Dathenor sisters-

Kalari the quiet- Magically intuned elf wizard who dables in magically repairing constructs. She tends to like to work alone but will work with others to suit her needs. Dreams of one day having a tower where she can study artificial creation threw magical means. wizard level 16

Kamari the restless- Divine bringer of chaos Kamari likes to deal out harsh punishment to her enemies using her divine powers. Quick to jump into a battle with spells or swords shes brash and loves to jump into the fray during a heated battle. cleric level 16

Tamiya the trickster- Sleek and deadly Tamiya unlike her siblings does not harness much magic. Having light divine powers and more of a talent towards stealth and protetcting the wilds. Good to get into and out of trouble without leaving much of a trace... Ranger level 8 rogue level 1

    The Pyxy's

Nyxy- The only daughter (or so she thought) of a leader of a thieves guild. Nyxy is quick with a sword and can take a trap down without much effort. She loves to kill and steal, but has a strange desire to defend the wilds. level 14 ranger level 1 rogue

Nyxi- Is she truly Nyxy's little sister? Like Nyxy this girl has rogue skills but also has an inclination towards the arcane arts as their mother had. But why does her existance seem mysterious? ^_^ level 2 wizard level 1 rogue

Foxiefist CleopatraJones (recently rerolled to level one) Guided by a divine pull this fist throwing maiden of order uses her body and mind to bring pain to the enemies and heal her comrades. Monk level 1 soon to become a cleric.

All those girls are elves ^_^

    My non elves

Severi Ironstrong- This dwarven lass came to stormreach to prove herself to her clan. Showing a talent towards healing magics Severi longs to truly be a warrior. Laughed by her elder brothers and told to just become a healer, Severi struggles to find a balance between cutting things down and bandaging them back up. Cleric level 2 fighter level 1

Trinaty faithhand- Only child of a master Artificer Trinaty once dabbled in the talent herself along with trainning from a master theif. Shunning the ways of evil she decided to rededicate herself towards divine magics. Her families talents for construct repair did not go lost on her and she bares the mark of Marking which allows her to heal all allies in the thick of battle. (always wanted to make a cleric who could heal both fleshies and non fleshies at once and picked a human to do it since they get that dragon mark) Rerolled her from level 2/1 cleric rogue to a pure cleric Human.

Now I dont really rp anymore and havent done a pen and paper session in a few years now, but most of my girls have some form of background. And have plenty of style
