Default max hp for pure ranger

    hey all

what is the most hp you can get out of a ranger? (unbuffed) my ranger is a dwarf, (only lvl 11 so far) with a 14 con (i believe) a +4 item, toughness and i plan on taking all the toughness enhancements. without the 4th toughness enhancement i have 208 hp so far.

The max Hit Points would require a starting CON of 20, +1 CON ar 4,8,12, Dwarven CON II, +3 CON Tome, and a +6 CON Item.

I don't believe anyone would invest all that, so it's kind of hard to give you an answer.

The average Dwarven Ranger would have 300-350 Hit Points at Level 14 however.

Davey is correct with the range. Jmonty, here's what you're shooting for:

    _20 Heroic Durability
    112 Base
    _84 22 CON
    _16 Toughness
    _50 Toughness IV enhancement
_10 Draconic Vitality (150 Argonnessen favor)
    _30 Greater False Life
    322 HP @ L14

Add Dwarven CON enhancements, eventually use a +5 CON item and +1 CON tome (or +6 CON item).
    Max Dwarven Toughness (as planned).
Complete Gianthold Quests for 150 Agents of Argonnessen favor.
Find/purchase and use a Greater False Life item.
Possibly add the Minos Legens (toughness/hvy fort) helm from Orchard Tapestries for an additional 16 HP totalling 338.

Default i think most would agree that 300-plus is a lot of hitpoints

so, because rangers can wand-whip themselves, you might only need between 250 & 300 to be pretty **** durable

currently sitting at 256 on a Drow 13 Ranger/ 1 Rogue and she has no problem with durability. As CSF said 250 is good spot to be at. Once you get to level 14 you will have more than enough HP.

Heh... Yes, but my dwarf ranger cringes whenever he needs to do it. Going from 50 hp to 300+ hp eats through a lot of wand charges.

sweet, thanks man. i'm doing a mainly twf if you haven't guessed.

i looked at my base con and it was only 12, with 2 feat bonus and a 4 item. so far i'm doing ok. what counts is i'm lovin my ranger, but i'd like to be a secondary tank if possible.

oh, i guess you could add in virtue and aid since you have false life.

Ok, so you're only getting 70 from CON (with upgrade to +5 CON item and +1 tome) and you're new total is 308 HP. No biggie. If you can cross the 300 HP threshold, you're in good shape.

P.S. Greater False Life item is all the time HP. Aid, Virtue, Inspire Greatness, etc. are temp HP and not included in this base HP discussion.

Hey you forgot the Minos Legion!
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

It was optional in my first list. Robe wearers really don't need it as Heavy Fort robes are everywhere.

My Dwarf Ranger (Rgr 12 / Fig 1 / Pal 1) is sitting at 377 with his Minos Helm on.

    16 (base) + 2 enh + 1 tome + 5 item = 24 Con, 2 Toughness Feats, GFL, Agents Favor, Dwarven Toughness IV, Fighter Toughness I

MB wouldn't you rather have the option of wearing a Fearsome Robe of Greater XXX Resistance or of Invulnerability?

Yup. Thus it was listed as "optional" equipment.

With enough dex to make up for the lack of armor, a fearsome robe of heavy fortification is just awesome on a ranger, and if you have 250+ hps you are in good shape.

Yup. But, Yaga makes a good point. With more high level loot dropping and essentially a static drop helm, you can get the Minos Legens helm for Toughness and Hvy Fort and use a Fearsome Robe of Greater <energy> Resistance (only ml:12 compared to ml:14 for Fearsome Hvy Fort).

I still like the helm slot for a number of affixes; WIS, Devotion/Potency, etc. as my Ranger is a caster/healer, too. But,it's nice to have options.

that devotion helm from the orchard seemed kind of weak to me. from there i picked the magi helm, but probably should have taken the toughness one. i really like the +100 mana without having to carry an extra item.
