    Default DDO & Vista x64?

Has anyone run DDO on Windows Vista x64, any version? My girlfriend and I are putting together a computer for her to play on, and I'm curious to hear from anyone running DDO on such a platform.

    thanks,
    neo

I run Windows vista home edition. I dont have any problems. Just a few things you might need to know. While updateing the game you might need to run the update in adminastration mode just for the update. ( With my vista i need to do that because the game will crashed if launched in admin mode) After the update close the program and then reopen it and it will do another small update then you'll be golden

If you dont need x64bit, dont get it. I mean if you have no software that says its 64bit optimized, you have no need for Vista 64bit.

Software, including DDO and ALL games that are 32bit will not use the 64bit optimization.

Now, if you plan to have more then 3gigs of memory then thats another reason to get the 64bit version.

Even though, AMD and Itel have made there chips 64 bit very few programs take the advantage of it. In the future that will be different and by that time Vista will be a memory.

If you dont want the hassle playing games, then just settle with the 32bit version.

Default I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit

If I had to do something different I would have set my system up to duel boot with XP. I'd have triple digit fps in XP where I have decent 2digit ones in Vista. Plus the whole sound thing in Vista, but that's another story.

Default anyone else - experience with DDO on 64-bit?

I appreciate the good-intentioned advice about skipping 64-bit, but unfortunately that isn't what I was looking for.

To recap: My g/f is building a new computer for herself under my guidance. It's a new computer, so we have to purchase a copy of Windows for the machine. Our dilemma is whether DDO will run fine under the 64-bit version of Vista. It's already been decided that she's going to bite the bullet and go with Vista, instead of running XP and then upgrading to Vista at some point. This is why I'm looking for any experience, pro or con, WRT running the DDO client under 64-bit Vista. I only want to buy the operating system once, and if it works fine under 64-bit, then we'll go with that. Her processor is 64-bit, her motherboard supports more than 4GB of RAM, and it's a system she's going to be using for a few years at least.

I understand the willingness to discuss the relative merits of framerates on XP versus Vista, 32- vs. 64-bit, driver support, etc., but this thread was started to hear from anyone who happened to be running DDO under x64 Vista.

so, anyone else have any hands-on experience with x64 Vista and DDO?
