Up the damage on these puppies. A whole keg of nasty explosive A-team type power should do more then 8dmg. Would also make them more interesting and fun to use against monsters.

I mean, they should be a tactical option since they're there.

I'd add other types of environmental hazards too. Like oil drums, spills, weapon racks, cracks(that cause a trip save) a box of last years christmas lights.

Sure christmas lights wont hurt anyone, but who can resist the tempation of wondering whether or not they still work...

You can use them in some of the low level harbor quests to kill off mobs before they see you. It's how I make it through An Explosive Situation on any squishy characters - range the barrels and kill the thieves next to them.

I always thought that was the preferred solution for that quest. if you hit the barrel, they take ~2 hp of damage and die .. if you shoot them with an arrow (or charge in swinging) they'll take 10-15 hp damage before going down..

We have that already -- it's called Wall of Fire

seriously, my guildies and I have often wished we could light grease puddles on fire (usually, right after someone's knocked over the non-reflexy people with a clicky)

Aren't those the instructions for that quest? You are "supposed" to do it that way.

Increasing the damage to significant levels would only give people a way to Greif folks....

Not necessarily. I've done it without using the barrels.
