    Default Idea for Premium Service

I think it would be nice to have a in and out of game forum service available to guilds. When you click on the “?” tab it takes you to a website. Why could we not have turbine host some guild forums. This would allow people to access guild forums in and out of game. I would be willing to pay 10 bucks a month for my guild to have access to forums. This would be something that would make guilds happy till housing comes along, and would require little effort for turbine to implement.

    What do you think DDO?

If you look at the transcript of the town hall meeting, you will see that Haphomet (me) asked this question (among others) there.

I think it would be unprecedented (not postive on that) of an mmorpg to offer guild site hosting as a Premium service, and I can assure that it would be a success with fair rates, fansite kites, logos, templates, smileys, avatars all provided by Turbine.

Hard to see why a guild wouldn't want http://guildname.ddo.com as their domain.

Hopefully they wouldn't force us all to use VB tho

Edit - As far as accessing it via the game, I don't see the need in that at all.

Yes I saw your conversation in the notes. I did not see a responce. I think they might be dodging the answer.

This is the third time in 6 months I have posted about this. I have not gotten much of a responce from the community and no responce from the devs.

i think guildportals.com or guildportal.com (can't remember which way, with or without the S) is a free hosting site. also, you can go to www.silverdragons-lair.net for the awesomest guild site in the whole wide world.

I already have a guild site. It is just a pain not to have access to in in game.

Thefellowshipddo.com is my site and it is hosted by http://www.mmoguildsites.com/ . I still think it would be easer to have ingame acess.

There have been discussions about this sort of feature, but right now our priorities for DDO are making the game itself better for players before adding outside services.

We do add many player ideas to the list every week that we submit to the team. Just because we don't respond doesn't mean we've missed your idea

Sorry, unless I get a personal response, with ponies and cupcakes and rainbows and more, I just can't really feel you've heard MY voice. I know everyone wants this, But I NEED it.

I think many people may be confused about the fact you are still running your operating system and other applications are running in the background while DDO is running full screen.

You can switch DDO to not full screen by hitting Alt-Enter.

You can then switch to a web browser and access your guild site, all without logging out or exiting the game program.

With the price of computers now, I think many people probably just have a keyboard-mouse switch and toggle between boxes for accessing the internet/playing the game.

Im constantly Alt-Tabbing to surf the web during downtime, waiting, etc. If you have a webpage open, and DDO running full screen or windowed doesnt matter, alt-tab will switch you between programs..Im no PC expert thats what it does on mine though without a prob.

Yeah DDO hosted guildsites would be cool but in order to get premium pay it would have to have a lot of templates and options or all guilds would look exactly the same take for example this forum and its 17 waforged avatars available and you cant upload your own...that would hardly be sufficient if we were paying extra for premium.

I don't think this would go over real well.

Turbine is already very heavy-handed when it comes to forum moderation. I know that I wouldn't want them pushing their weight around on my guild forums and believe me, they would try to do so.

The advantage of having a private forum away from Turbine is that if you feel the need to vent or say something against the TOS, you are free to do so without fearing infractions.

No, I don't see this as something that'll be happening anytime soon or something that would be successful if it did happen.

Plus, why would you want <guildname>.ddo.com when you can have <guildname>.tld?

I can only recommend to everyone to run the game in windowed mode. It is soooo nice to be able to easily open a web page to reference something, or just to catch up on X while you form a group...
Devs: Thanks for making Druids available to VIPs without the pack. This more than anything, has made me want to buy the pack.

I think everyone is aware of the alt tab. I am just saying it would be nice to have access to a forums threw the game. It is a pain to switch back and forth. I would like a way to access it ingame. I don't mind paying for that feature.

    You'd pay $10 a month to have in-game forums?

    Dude.

I play in windowed mode and pay $3 a month for an entire website. Which has a forum on it.

It's the same thing only better.

Wow.. Way to repeat everyone else.. **Shakes head*

I guess it is hard for people to understand that not everyone wants to jump from screen to screen. I am trying to help guildies out who are not into computers as many of us, or as the people who are not motovated because of all the trouble.

I think the general consensus is "That's not a feature I would be willing to pay for, and not a feature I want Turbine dedicating significant time to developing" when they "repeat everyone else."

Many of us want to be sure that the devs are aware that, while this is important to some people, the majority of us are quite happy simply using Alt+Tab.
