    Exclamation Attention! Official +Quarion Attack while Moving bug.

    Please keep this thread clean and neat, this thread is to address some bugs we the players have experienced for the longest time. Keep in mind that thread rules apply.

    Ever since mod4? engine update and mobs AI update, mobs tend to run away from attackers. When they try to run away the distance is noticeably long and players often experience that no matter how hard they try to hit the running mobs there was no rolls and attacks were not registered to hit. This bug may lead to party wipe in some cases.

    Post your experiences with this bug in this thread.

    p.s. ranged combat bugs go to this thread please

    I think the AI change was in module 4.

    Anyway, they module they made archers run away from us. Think it's mod 4.0

    One thing needs to be said is while the mobs are running away from us it should be easier to hit them (melee) we are entitled to bonuses to hit just like they get if we are running. Ok there thats said, now I will say something else.

    Expect a long wait for them to fix bad AI. How do you make the best of it? Stop chasing mobs that run. Let them get thier distance, stop turn and fire. Give them a chance to hit you (an arrow or two), then go after them again. It is better than chasing after them until they pull more mobs you didn't intend to encounter yet.

    Another tip.. If you know a mob is prone to run don't fight him on the side you first seen him. Run to the opposite side and when he does run he will be running toward the way you already cleared.

    Yeah since Mod5/4 it has been difficult to run something down. Even if my character is faster. Swings just do not register.

    And why hasn't the ranged combat bug been fixed yet?

    Only like 60% of the arrows I fire ever get a roll ToHit. The others never register. Like they don't exist.

    My serious contention is the disparity between "relative distance" and "actual distance" in the game.

    First off... the fact that you run behind a mob swinging and getting no rolls was portrayed as the concept that the mob is really further away, but the distance the server sees (actual distance) and the distance the client sees (relative distance) are different because of latency and lag issues.

    Except you can be running behind a mob and be "bumping" into the mob (where your character gets pushed slightly to the side, or forced backwards a step or two from coming into "contact" with it) but are still too far away to melee that same mob.

    It's just borked the way it is.

    No it's not. Players need to stop making "official" threads. I know it looks like your fellow players started the other official threads, but they didn't. That's just a byproduct of the merging process (and one of the other problematic parts of it). The official threads were, in fact, started by Quarion.

    Yeah, I figured he was, but someone thought they were making a real "official" thread. And it's not the first one to show up.

I mean... is it a raid, are there prereqs or timers, should we melee him or blast him with spells, do we have to complete any insanely complicated and difficult puzzles to be able to flip a switch that turns his dr off or something?

    yeah, the official thread's title didn't have "official" originally. it was "abbot changes" or whatever
