If you work for a helpdesk, you know that there's nothing the helpdesk person can do to fix a known issue. It's a known issue, a developer is working on it, all the helpdesk person can do is relay the information to the customer and express empathy.

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=122319

When a player wins an auction in-game mail is sent to the player that won the auction and the player that posted the auction. The player who posted the auction gets the mail with their winnings attached, but when they detach the money, the mail is not auto deleted. The mail can be manually deleted just fine, but when the player tries to open the mail again, an in-game error message pops up stating: "An internal error has occured" the mail is readable and deleteable still, but this message will appear everytime the mail is opened.

It's a known issue, the devs are working on it, they probably don't have a specific answer on how you'll get your money back.

GMs don't generate items or money for players. If an item has been lost, the GM can have someone track down the item, and if it was legitimately lost, it can be replaced, IIRC. But they will never simply wave a wand and poof something into existence, just like they'll never auto-complete a quest for you. 1. That's open to huge abuses and 2. They can't check all facts on the spot.

So, my p2p help is to say "It's a known issue. The GM told you that, and until the devs have more info, you probably won't get your plat. Sorry to hear that - I've had the same thing happen, though it was only about 500 plat that I lost."
I play on Ghall...Gall..Galli...The new Fernia. Lifetaker, Heartbreaker, and Battlemage
Terrakal: Roguey Stabby guy. Gyness the Stout: I drink to hide my rage. Gyshe: Race: Elf. Class: Elf. Roomsweeper: Boomsticks. Ramparts: Pally Intimitank. Crucible: Hammer and Tongs. And Shafted: Cleric* Archer *Not a cleric.

thanks i did lose a bit more. mybe it's the help desk io work at but if you take the call you open a ticket for the user not just say sorry and close the ticket they should have some way to keep trake of the users that have had this problem

mybe i over reacted but it's ver upsetting when you spend all that time and end up losing out on what you have played so hard to get

More than likely, you successfully detached the money on the first try. The known issue is that the mail is not being autodeleted and remains in your mailbox after detachment and if you click it again, you get "(error) an internal error has occured."
