Default Another reason what Reaver/Abbot tagging is a bad idea

The reaver and abbot requirements for getting tagged take significantly more time than other raids but have the advantage of being a 1 time flag.

I didn't mind the reaver so much as quests were new and it wasn't too hard to get 60 relics. The abbot was more annoying due to the random drops on sigils (two of my characters SILL need a right frame after tons of runs in the inferno).

The issue is, I just got another character to cap and decided to start prepping him for raids. Von/DQ/Titan were easy as there is always someone willing to do the prep... but reaver requires me to get 60 relics. The problem? No one wants to run any gianthold stuff... how am I supposed to get tagged solo? It's significantly harder. With the abbot this will only get worse, none of the 4 prep raids are "fun" for most people so you can bet your money no one will be running them once mod 6 is out.

Solution: Make all raid flagging like the titan

edit: *sigh* just saw the massive typo in the title, sorry should by "why" not "what" (I r noob)

Are you posting LFMs for your own groups? On Sarlona I've noticed a lot of "Run it on elite" groups fill up fast.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

You should join a guild. It's easier to prep for stuff when you can coordinate with guildies.

I agree. I hate the "Collect X Amount of Junk" preraid quests. I've always liked the VoN series simply because I can get a group, knock them off in a hour or two, and be dragon ready. I still haven't collected enough relics to run the Reaver or enough Sigils for the Abbot. I just did Ghola Fan for the first time tonight, and it's nice knowing that I won't have to run it 100 times to access the Titan.

    Thumbs up Agree

Flagging for each quest should only need to be done once per character Like the Titan, and Reavers Fate. The more Raids in the game the less time there is to re-flag for them.

People that cant play 24/7 find it hard to even get flagged for even one raid.

The 2 day 18 hr wait is fine the way it is.

Then you are getting lucky with sigil drops then. I have run the inferno about 10 times with my main and I still haven't gotten the right frame.

I've run more Gianthold quests since Mod 5 than Orchard quests.

Why just tonight there was an LFM up for gianthold stuff that said "Running for relics."

Or, you know, you can run just orchard quests to get your sigil, pawn all your loot and buy relics on the auction house.

I fail to see the problem.

Well it is certainly not IMPOSSIBLE to prep for the raid, far from that. I'm trying to look into the future a bit. Yes, there are still groups running gh stuff and I've joined lots of them to get my new guy ready for the reaver (now he only needs tor, which should be easy to do). The problem though is people will naturally get tired of quests after a long time.

Would people still be running Von prep and DQ prep if it was not necessary? If we had collected a whole bunch of items from VON and DQ that made us prepped for ever (similar to reaver/abbot) would you go back, at this point in time, and run them all over again a whole bunch of times to collect said items?

Basically what I'm trying to say is the more newer content there is, the less people will want to run gianthold. Right now the loot and xp is the same between the necropolis and gianthold. But once we hit level 16, who will want to loot run pop?

My next character on the leveling list is level 6 I think, I do not have any plans on getting him prepped for the reaver, ever, simply because it will be too hard once he is the right level to find enough people to collect 60 relics with.

I guess I shouldn't point out that just about every night I've been on this week there's a PUG looking for VoN members?

Honestly, I wouldn't worry. Gianthold seems likely to be the premiere spot to level up between about 10th and 15th and probably will be, if not forever, at least for a long time to come. Given that every single one of those quests gives relics, it'll probably always be relatively feasible to flag for the raid.

Well no that's completely irrelevant as we HAVE to run von for the prep, EVERYTIME. Reread my post, I said IF von was a "collect X item" prep you did once, you would not want to go back and farm it at this point in time (fast forward in the future, replace von with gh )

Except don't you think there will be other people also trying to flag for the raid?

Sure there won't be as many as there were when Gianthold was fresh, but people in the 10-15 range are going to be in there.

(Or better yet, get some already-flagged friends to run with you and give you their relics. )

I developed a bad flavor for guilds after a few people up and left parties I was in because someone from their guild asked them to drop their party, which they did, and go join them.

Have no problem with guildies who say, "I only have "x" amount of time til a guild function comes up"; if things take longer than expected at least we had fore knowledge of them leaving.

And because I got tired of answering requests to join guilds and explaining why I didn't want to be part of a guild I created one for just my toons.

All I do is pugs, just created two parties tonight for Crucible and Madstone Crator to help others get flagged/relics while I get my relics for armor maintainence. (I was relics hunting solo the past few weeks during off peak hours, but noticed more people saying they have alts still needing to get flagged for Reaver when my 3 mains put PuGs together to run Reaver.

Haven't done most of the raids, but between Reaver and Titan, would have to agree Titan seems best. Had to run through all the low level parts to get HiPS and then do Ghola Fan and Shrieking Mines only once was sweet. If at the end on each of the nine quest in GH had put out a piece of a sigil that was assembled it would of been better, IMO, than farming for relics and getting flagged from only 3 of the nine quests specifically, and then having to do the pre-raid for final flagging.

yup, did this for a guildy of mine last night. we ran crucible and madstone - i was lucky enough to pull 3 of both relics from both quests - they all went to him. And when my level 5 character gets of level, i'm certain he will return the favor.

    prison takes ~20min
    crucible takes ~30min
    madstone takes ~40min

i dont think that's too much to ask of a guildie or 2 to help you out for a while.

If you're in a guild, you understand why a person in a PUG will drop group so fast for a guild run. If you're not, it's not as apparent to you. I will never hold it against somebody if they have something in-guild come up. Given the choice, I run with my guild too. Guild party spots can fill up fast.

    Roger, that.

I tend to assume the person's guild is similar to mine, and that they're not just using their guild as an excuse to drop party.

It can be handy for that too. Sometimes a PUG just blows, but it's not that they're bad people, so you don't want to say "You guys suck, I'm leaving."

Yeah, but....when I am in a PUG, there is no possibility that it will "blow."
