WOOT. Great transcript incoming from somebody I am sure, a little rowdy but a very good time.
Thanks Quarion and Tolero

Personally, I was frustrated with the amount of people that would not adhere to the rules despite frequent repetition. Many of us that play this game are adults or on the verge of adulthood. In real life, we would not think to go to a meeting and continue to conduct conversation while waiting on someone to finish their question and open the floor to a topic. I believe that /say should not have been used at all. It should have been strictly tells or general chat for those involved in the topic at hand. Also, when the topic has been closed, then everyone needs to let it go and reserve any further questions for the forum. More people would have received turns if these simple rules of conduct had been in place.
Also, I do not believe most of the meeting was productive. While I agree that the Devs do deserve appreciation for the work they do, I do not believe a Town Hall Meeting is a place to do it. Some important topics, such as SPAM, were addressed, but for the most part the topics were evaded. Honestly, this is no different from posting on the forums and waiting for a response. When I attend a Town Hall Meeting, I expect some level of directness. I realize the Devs cannot answer every possible question as to the future of the game and future updates. However, it is not Quarion's nor Tolero's fault that questions that have been hot issues on the forums were not brought up in the Town Meeting. Personally, if I had gotten a turn, I wanted to ask about the raid loot as I feel many people are dissatisfied. I did not want to turn the meeting into a b@tch session, but I did want productive answers.

See, that's the thing. I might've asked a more hard-hitting question, except the intro (and some of the early answers) made it fairly clear this wasn't a Q&A so much as a feedback session.
Quarion and Tolero don't, generally speaking, have the answers, especially to some of the more hard-hitting questions. This seemed to me to mainly be a way for non-forum users to provide Q and T some of the same feedback we're able to provide here on a daily basis.

Bringing up issues of dissatisfaction, even if no clear-cut answers are offered, still puts the issue on the table. I thought this was a meeting to bring up issues that concern us. I thought most of the issues addressed concerned future content, which the Devs really don't have the specific time-tables as they are still working on it.

when they posted that the devs were gonna hold this townhall meeting it was said
"We will be opening the floor to those who have something to say, or questions to ask, and Quarion will be on hand to record your feedback and address concerns or comments."
"This event is designed to let you voice your thoughts on DDO, and provide candid, and feedback about the game, in the game."
so how is it that it makes sense to hold this event and expect those who show up to only as easy questions and not those "hard-hitting" ones?
the devs had to have expected people to ask tough to answer questions and should have had clear and decisive answers.
further more its not like it was totally unexpected to see questions like "whats being done about spam?". what i felt was unexpected was answers like " we are working on it." that isnt an answer, all that tells me is the devs know about it but havent figured out what to do.
some of the big questions i was looking forward to asking and perhaps get an idea as to what the devs were doing about it were issues like :
-obiviously spam
-rangers attack speed being sub par to melee class
-raid loot mechanics with raid which require lengthy flagging compared to ones which only have timer ( eg dragon, demon queen vs reaver and titan) and if the current system really works with the latter raids or not. perhaps implementing a 1 time flagging for all raids like the reaver or titan as a solution to keep the current mechanics in place.
other people had just as important questions which many of the community wanted answers for but there voices were not heard
very disappointing experience as the answer that were given regarding the future of the game like when to expect the monk or the new updated splash screens were things that have already been floated out there.
hope that next time around feedback will be more productive

not posting to flame at all but just expressing frustration with the event. i was reading the transcript over at ddocast because i came in late and came across this:
General): [Laquido] ok and the second part to my question is since the big mod 5 is out will we see the fixing of ranged combat any time soon?
(General): [+Quarion] Codog has just had a lengthy discussion about ranged attacks on the forums! Check out the Dev Tracker to find his posts!
what kind of an answer is that? check the forums cause i dont want to answer you? not everyone has the time to dig thru threads to get specific answers. search engine for the forums isnt exactly at google level
again to quote what they announced about the even "This event is designed to let you voice your thoughts on DDO, and provide candid, and feedback about the game, in the game."
checking the forums is research outside the game. Laquido was asking about current work on ranged combat which might not have been discussed.
oh well :S

They were there to get information from us, not for them to give us information. They did it here on the forums, and they did it in game, because heck it was just fun.
So they wanted to collect our concerns. Then it was a success, because alot of people got to speak up and have their concerns heard.
