    Default Warforged Rogue

My main is a halfling rogue, and I am pretty happy with him. I have made several attempts at doing better, and have always ended up deleting them.

It seemed that whenever I went to roll a new rogue, everyone else was rolling a new rogue. So my rogue wasn't in demand. Well right now, people have pretty much stopped making rogues. Ironically, with the search difficulties finally brought back in line after the disastrous (For rogues) Module 3.3, a non-drow/elf rogue has a chance of making the grade again!

Making a rogue can be a real drag. especially before you can get the Weapon Finesse feat at level 3! You pretty much whiff your rapier in the air while the mobs tear you up on anything other than normal. For this build, I decided I wanted some strength, as well as decent dex, and more than the minimum intelligence.

Because mithril body is equal to mithril breastplate, I didn't build him to eventually be able to run in robes. Because he isn't a high dex race, he couldn't be expected to get 32 dex anyway. Still he will get to 28 just fine, and making use of the Mithril Fluidity feat twice, he will better AC than most robe wearing fleshies.

Though I normally hate starting a rogue with less than 18 dex, I have no problem making an exception here to get my other stats the love they deserve. A 12 starting constitution, ending up at 14 before items makes this rogue among the heartiest of the breed. 13 strength has meant being able to pick up +1 strength bracers, and doing damage in the early quests... even on elite!

hope you manage to get the cartouche and a nice +cha item, as with an 18 UMD, you might have a hard time making anything UMD wise. Otherwise, an interesting build., tried a WF Rogue myself, seemed lacking with a 28 point build.... you got a 28 or 32 for this guy?

Looks like that thing fudged your repair skill up... did you invest any points in it?

A Warforged character that reaches or breaches 26 DEX can forgo Mithril Plating with no penalty. At 28 DEX (being thats the number you are using) those three feats of Mithril Plating and two Mithril Fluidities only grant you a single point of AC over a composite body.

You are likely better off just getting the dodge feat and two other feats as it will net you the same effect with no arcane spell failure on scrolls.

Now, if you are after a reason other than numeric analysis, by all means, go Mithril.

Just because I'm feeling contrary. Dex is not a rogues primary attribute. I'd Drop my dex down to 15 and up my Charisma to 11... or at least to 9.

if you do what cow said (which i support), i'd use thoose 2 extra feats for imp. crit: pierce and your choice of the second (toughness if you want for hp, skill focus: <rogue skill> for better skills, nimble fingers, +saves feat, ect.). However, if you don't want dodge like cow suggested, you can take imp. crit. pierce, 2WF, and I2WF if you want more meleeing ability. I'd also drop dex to 15 (26 is still a great dex in the end) and spend thoose 5 points on putting cha at 10 and str to 14

Also, if you want more UMD skills, you can:

    17 ranks
    3 skill focus
    3 golden cartouche
    4 G. heroism
0 cha with +4 cha item (2 if you take my advice on stats)
3 rogue skill boost 2 (which you listed)
    ----------------------------------------
30 UMD (32 if you take my advice)

Have you considered forgoing dexterity in favor of strength? With a scant 10 dexterity you can fill out mithral plating(assuming +3enhancement, +6item, +1tome) and putting that all into strength could make you a pretty good combatant with out having to worry about finesse.

I agree that dexterity is not necessary for a rogue... but charisma? UMD is nice but a rogue gets basically no other benefit from charisma, unless he's splashing paladin or really pushing bluff/diplo/intimidate. I find it hard to warrant the stat points for one skill, even if it is probably the single most useful skill in the game. Just not enough return for the investment... 2 or 3 to umd for several stat points.
    • NEW – Tip #52 no longer mistakenly says that the Jump skill reduces falling damage. The appropriate skill is, in fact, tumble.
