Okay, I am going to give an update about my father as some of you have inquired, and I appreciate your concerns. My Dad passed away on Sept 26th. Although he was terminal with cancer this was unrelated as he contracted an infection during his chemo. I appreciate all of you who have asked about him since I posted about if a few months back.
For those of you who were unaware I'll explain here so I dont have to type out tells in game. My father was a retired vet(Army Ranger) who spent 4 years in Vietnam. He was diagnosed and treated for occular melanoma(cancer of the eye). This cancer is quite rare and is generally only found in miitary personnel who served in vietnam and had prolonged exposure to agent orange. (Obviously its rare because exposure was usually related to more than a year in country and not many people served that much time in combat).
Anyway, he was treated and there were no traces of the cancer left. In July he was feeling a little weak and after a short hospital stay he was diagnosed with uveal cancer(cancer of the liver). The cancer was determined to be melanoma with progressed from the eye. There is no cure for this cancer and very few treatment options. We met with specialists who determined that if untreated he had maybe 2 months to live. With treatment, however, he could live up to a year. My Dad, for my mothers sake I'm sure, opted for thetreatment. During the treatment he became ill and died....living only 11 weeks after the diagnosis.
It is tough for me as my parents live here with me during the summers, I had built them an apartment to stay here, and in Florida in the winters. I miss him a lot, he was my closest friend. I still often have my morning coffee by the pool and relax as we would each morning during the summer.
Once again I appreciate all the inquires and support and I'll see you all in game.
