    Okay, my initial thought for a good fighter capable of self-healing is a Paladin. My normal Paladin is more a DPS machine than your everyday Paladin, but is kind of item intensive, so I went more intimitank. I think this character will be able to tank and do damage effectively. I also went with UMD, as I do this whenever possible. I am including a couple +1 tomes and a few +6 stat items in my end numbers, as I think by the time you hit 14 you should have these, or be able to trade for them.

    If this is a little low for you, you can swap out Stunning Blow for Toughness (another 16 HPs) and move APs around to get another 50 on top of that, pushing you close to 300 (286, a +6 Con item will put you at 300).


    Another alternative would be swap a few Stat points around to pick up Combat Expertise, I have included that alternative below the first one.

    Come to think of it, you might want to drop Stunning Blow and Skill Focus:UMD for Toughness and Combat Expertise, that would give this build quite a bit more survival, but I will leave the AP changes up to you.

    Geonis, I LOVE this build! I hate turning a game into math homework, but a little foresight and alot of direction from you have really helped alot.
    I did not go EXACTLY along the provided build, but it is 90% the same and there were alot of things I never would have thought of.
    I didnt even know what UMD meant....now I know big time.

    a few questions, if I could.

    I was reluctant to take rogue classes since i was already multiclassed and noobish (which has hurt my ability to group a bit in the past), but have really enjoyed laying the hurt down AND getting backstab bonus! I thought taking my second rogue level would be great, but I cant evade in Heavy Armor....and I am a Paladin. If I get Mithril plate, can I evade? I sure would hate to give up my +2 Adamantine Lesser Guard/Command which seems to keep me alive!

    Also, should I invest 2 AP into raising my DEX? I have a decent Dex as it is (14), but I have considered just putting it all into STR and CON.

    Lastly, if I have +5 Full Plate and +2 Adamantine Lesser Guard/Command armor.....which should I be wearing. The benefits of both are obvious, but which one would YOU choose. The same goes for weapons. Should I go for the +4 Dwarven Axe of Pure Good, or the +1 Flametouched shock ball (? the crit that increases) of maiming (also increasing crit damage)?

    Any and all help would be appreciated...and thanks again for the build!

    The nice thing about this build is there are a lot of people leveling a similar build right now, so most people will understand the role of it.


    If I get Mithril plate, can I evade?
    No. Mithral Full Plate is medium armor, and you can only use Evasion in light armor. This build if you started with at least a 12 Dex, is built to use Mithral Breastplate, which is light armor and only gives up 1 point of AC versus Mithral Full Plate.


    Also, should I invest 2 AP into raising my DEX?
    Yes, at least you will be eventually to hit the needed 20 Dex. If you want to wait till you start wearing your Mith Breastplate, it wouldn't hurt.


    I have a decent Dex as it is (14), but I have considered just putting it all into STR and CON.
    If you are talking about level up points (you get 1 every 4 levels), they all go into Str. Dex is a waste and Con doesn't give as good a return as Str.


    Lastly, if I have +5 Full Plate and +2 Adamantine Lesser Guard/Command armor.....which should I be wearing.
    I suggest the +5, as higher AC means the baddy hits less often. If you manage to find some, +5 Adamantine is not bad at all, but remember you will eventually be changing to Mith Breastplate, so don't get too attached to your Heavy armor. Mith Breastplate can be difficult to find, if you get your Evasion and still haven't found any, drop me a line and I should be able to get you at least a +4 Mith Breastplate.

    My suggestion is carry both and have them readied on your hotbar. Use the more damaging one, until you start to hit less. I consider missing on ~11 or 12 to be the cutoff, that's when you switch to the higher +.

    I have played many a different type of charecter, and this is one that I have not tried. Looking to build a cleric, that can melee when necessary, can heal and CC. I am not worried about class, I have 32 point builds available. I know this is prolly alot to ask, but would like to see a build/s that would work.

    Equipment outside of raid loot including +1 tomes is achievable. Raid loot is fortuitous but cannot be critical. Run Titan and reaver plenty though and Dq slightly more than Velah so certain items are attainable over time.


    Well, which Human Dragonmarks were never mentioned, so I went with the Warding ones, as they seemed to lend themselves to this build best. I did include some more difficult to attain items, but I don't like including Raid loot, so you can add in what you feel is attainable for this build by Raiding. Probably the only true weakness of this build is the low Will save. This is bolstered a bit by the fact you are immune to fear (Grtr Hero via scroll), and if there are several casters, drop your Globe of Invulnerability (5x/day via Dragonmark) and swing away.

    Loot assumed with this build as follows:

    Str +6 item
    Dex +5 item
    Con +6 item
    Wis +4 item
    Cha +6 item (not really necessary, but helps with UMD)

    The Search and Spot scores seem a bit low, I think I'm missing something there. The rest of this character seems fine, going forward another level of Ranger opens 2nd level spells, raising your AC by a few points. Power Attack at level 15 should raise your DPS, or you could go with Toughness for 30+ more HPs. Watch out on Elite, in some quests you might end up being a bit of a glass cannon with the medium level of HPs here, keep Stoneskin going, adding Displacement scrolls for tough fights here and there, and you should do very well.

    This is actually one of the simplest builds, it's just that most people think Clerics are nothing more than Healbots. The example below is quite simple to build and will be welcome in any party. The thing about being a "Battle Cleric" (what most people consider any Cleric who swings a weapon), is to be a good one, you must be able to multi-task. You have to balance swinging a weapon with watching health bars, and also knowing when to just stand back and drop some crowd control.

    Thank you very much for a great thread.

    I primarily solo in DDO. My main is a pure rogue so it's oftentimes slow. I am wanting a new solo character that can still keep up with a group on the rare occasion I have the urge to do so. The problem is that I am hesitant to give up my skills. Disabling traps and finding doors means more XP for me along with some increased survivability. Sneak attack doesn't mean much to me as it is only usable twice in most fights. I do like Evasion along with Uncanny (and Improved Uncanny) Dodge, but can probably live without them.

    I want a solo build that can handle rogue skills on anything that is of normal difficulty for my level (possibly higher, but at least that), decent saves with will in particular, and I would love some crowd control. Healing would be nice, but I will take the crowd control over it. I have unlocked Drow, but have not reached the 1750 for the 32 point build yet. My preferred races would be either Halfling or Drow, but I have space to make more characters of either of those races if there is something else that will work better.

    I would like to request a build please. I would like a pure fighter build that uses dual light picks. Please no dwarf or warforge, other than that race does not matter. I also do not have the 32 point build so it would need to be a 28 point build. Thank you.

    Hello, thanks for making this thread and helping others with their builds. My request is for something a bit different. I want a halfling that specializes in the Great Crossbow. I started one last night as a lvl1 fighter to get the exotic weapon feat right away, but couldnt decide what was best at lvl2 and deleted until I could get a "proper" build from an expert. It is a 32 pt. build and I will be feeding it some tomes rather quickly. I think it should probably make use of improved precise shot at lvl 11 ranger, but I will let you make that call. I am going to try to focus a bit on UMD with this build in order to be a bit more versatile. Thanks for the help.

    Hey Geonis! This is such a useful and wonderful thread that you have put together and I love it! Alright, I have a few builds that I've wanted to play but not sure how....

    1) A spellcasting (I mean, cometfall, slay living, destruction, etc.), buffing cleric with high AC, saves, and the ability to provide DV's. No TWF or THF, sword and board. If you have suggestions for equipment, go ahead.

    2) A pure ranger build who is self-sufficient, but most importantly based on "machine gunning" and using light? or heavy? repeaters and maybe a bit of TWF. I'd prefer a mix of STR and DEX as both are important, I think.

    Race doesn't matter.... Dwarf isn't one of my favorite races but I'll live if you choose dwarf. I have drow unlocked but no 32pt build (yet!)

    Thanks a lot and take your time! You mostly likely have a lot of orders to take care of.
    I'll be keeping an eye out for the builds.

    I started as a halfling rogue. I like the rogue class so far. It seems soloable (at least up til level 6). I have unlocked DROW and would like to rebuild one. I am thinking rogue. The "look" that I like is the 2 weapon style, however I am open for suggestions. What I want is a good tune that solos well and is welcome in groups for his rogue skills. My knowledge of this game is very limited...thanks to the cheap manual that it came with. Could you briefly explain UMD, and ther other anacronyms? What is a 32 point build vs a 28, etc. Also, my goal is not to build a bad character and have to start over again. Thanks for any help. As a point of interest, I was looking for a drow with maybe 2 ranger for 2 weapon fighting and the rest (or most of the rest) rogue for the sneak attack and skills. I want to be able to do the rogue thing but also a dps machine for soloing. Is there a better way to do it? Thanks.

    disregard the question about 32 vs 28. I just need to figure out if it is worth unlocking.

    Heh, don't know if this has been answered before, but figured I'd just post the request and see what came about.

    I don't have any lvl 14 characters. I have unlocked drow, but that 400 points of favor is on a gimped rogue I'm going to delete eventually. I haven't played in a year, just came back to try it all again.

    What I'd like is this... the fastest, cheapest, most efficient character to get in plenty of Pick Up Groups, and that once he gets to 14, and is working on unlocked 32pt builds, can work nicely toward gathering funds to support other characters and builds.

    I don't have a guild to lean on for support, nor do I have anyone on my friend's list.
    I don't have any starting gold to speak of, nor any uber items banked and waiting.

    Other than that, no real restrictions. I'm open to any class/race combinations.

    Thoughts on this build:
    You will be a bit of a glass cannon, so make sure to keep Displacement and Stoneskin(via scroll) going at pretty much all times. One way to beef up the HPs a bit is to take a level of Fighter in there somewhere and take one of your combat feats with that extra feat, take Toughness with the feat you freed up and take the first enhacement for it netting 21 HPs. You could even do the same thing with a second level of Fighter, losing only a few more SPs and a 4th level spell, for 16 more HPs. Couple this with the Minos helm and a decent Con item (+4) and you would be sitting at 193 HPs, buffed by Stoneskin and Displacement, your survival should be greatly increased. Sp would drop to 670, not any huge loss. To keep up you skills, you probably would want to take the 2 Fighter levels before the second Rogue level.

    Edit:Okay, I went back and did the change I talked about above (adding 2 levels of Fighter), and posted it below (2nd build). I don't think it changes anything drastically, you just need to figure out where the AP comes from for the Toughness enhancement.

    Okay, Fighters are not my specialty by any stretch of the imagination, but I belive this one here will be a survivor. You note you want to dual-wield light picks, I assume because you have some good ones, if not then consider usin dual heavy picks and dropping Great Cleave for Oversized TWF (in new MOD), that lets you used big weapons in your off hand as if it was a light weapon (you are only at -2/-2). This would increase damage quite a bit.

    This is my thought for what you are looking for, any time I make a Ranger, I add in the level of Rogue to make it a bit more versatile. This build also adds in the Halfling Dragonmarks, for some huge backup healing. With the change to Ranged combat and the Great Crossbow, this character should be exceptionally effective.


    Since you mentioned using several tomes off the bat, I adjusted the scores to work best with a Dex, Con, Int, and Cha tome at creation.

    I recommend that build a lot, as that was my 4th or 5th character, but the first one to both level 12 and 14 cap (1st character made 10 at old cap before I hit 400 favor). That character is almost always the last to die, and has often saved the party/raid. One in particular, after being told my character wouldn't be very effective in VON 6 elite (level 12 cap still), everyone waited at the gate for the runner to group up the mobs. Well after grouping up the mobs, the 3 people were sent to do the pillars, and 1 of them brought the whole group of mobs out of home plate, they proceeded to rush the gate. The entire party was killed amazingly fast except me. I managed to kill off the last of them and raise both clerics. Suprisingly there was still quite a bit of time left, and the runner managed to get the bases clear again. We did the "rush the dragon" tactic, and after killing everyone else off, I was the last. Between Evasion and LOH, I managed to keep alive and polish her off. My reward after a well fought battle.........not a **** thing!!!

    Well I'm in a bit of a pickle. I have a level 4 rogue and I love playing as him. Lately, however, I've been feeling like my play experience is lacking. I have also played as a ranger, a wizard and a bard. I loved all of them.

    What I am looking for a is a build for a character that has a little of all of those 4 classes. Now if you could make this build as customizable and newby friendly as possible, you would forever have my thanks. I am really trying to find my niche in DDO and none of the classes by themselves seem to do it for me. Thanks a lot.

    Race wise, I was thinking either human or elf.

    Name wise, that's up to you. This is a pretty loose request, tweak with it and jumble it up as much as you want. In the end if it doesn't work out for me I can use it as a base plate for something else.

    I know this is a pretty odd request. Thanks.

    I haven't unlocked drow or any tomes so please disclude those.
