A few times per chest times a few times per quest times a few quest per day times a few days per week times a few weeks per month times is a lot of clicks.

This is a pretty standard philosophy in UI design. Even if it's only "a few" clicks of the mouse, once your user has to do it repeatedly it becomes something you should see if you can remedy.

The suggestion is a good one.

Maybe adapt the new "Transfer" mechanic that is in use with Bags of Holding.

Open Chest and click "Transfer All!"

meh, would it really be used that much? At this point I leave, most of the time, half the things in there. I grab the main item and the gold. Arrows, lockpicks, most potions and scrolls, they all just stay in the chest for me.

I wouldn't mind loot all, but I wouldn't use it 90% of the time.
